Social Media for Change?
Sep 19, 2012
|
|
The new generation is totally addicted to social media; including social networking platforms. They
get information, friendship and every other thing they would have gotten from physical friends and
family.
Can Social Media however, be used to advance young people's rights. How?

Quite a unique idea... Right now, social media is not into all this but if they think about it, they
can be a very good medium for the youth to know about their rights...... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do think social media can be used to advance young peoples rights. Today, nearly everyone is using
social media in some type of way. From huge corporations to small businesses, social media plays a
huge role in society today. Social media is a way for people to express themselves in a way they
couldn't in person. Social media can be used for anything! It is a good way to express your ideas
and get them out to millions of people in a very fast way. Nearly everything is connected because of
social media, it has taken over our lives now. While its not being used in a way to advance young
peoples rights now, I think that if something is done about it, it would be a very good way to help
young people to understand and use their rights they have.

It depends on how the youths make an use of the social media. It might help them in
education,research,social skills,independence and self-expression.
Young adults in secondary and post-secondary education will often use
social networking to discuss schoolwork and share discussions about assignments.Social networking
allows people to keep up with current friends and make new ones. When used in the right way, social
media can increase self-esteem and help someone feel less
isolated.
