"Active" on TIG
Apr 14, 2007
|
|
Hey! I love TIG allot, but I think our "Active Rank" should be fixed.
I was out of town for the last 2 weeks, with my family in Arizona. * I did have time, though, to
check my email and log into my TIG account every couple days. Before I left, I was #6. * Now I've
dropped down to #16. * I hope I don't sound like I'm whyning, or mad. I just thought I should bring
it to discussion..* How do you think we could fix this? Did anyone else have this happen to them?
*

Hey!
Since active rank is based on your activity on the site, it doesn't mean that you dropped because
you were inactive, but rather others were more active than you during that time. Active rank does
measure of a few parts of the site that are based on participation ie. posting a blog or simply
logging in, but it's mostly based on activity rather than the lack there of.
It's more likely that other top members were more active than you during the time you were away, so
they went up and of course, your rank decreased.
Hope that helps! Please reply if something doesn't make sense

INMCA - active rank is based on your overall participation on the TIG website. So, for example if
you post a ton on blogs, your blog active rank might be #1, but your discussion board rank may be
really low (assuming you don't post much) so using an average your overall rank, as compared to
other users will be relatively lower.
Active rank doesn't just consider one part of the site to determine your rank, but rather uses an
average of your participation across all areas of the website to establish your rank.
Hope that helps!

To be truthful I do not understand how the system works as I use TIG to promote missing children to
the world and now the view counter dose not work I think I must have burnt it out with over 80,000
views and that was some weeks ago but getting back to active score mine is very low.

Hi - I notice that you're right about the blog views counter - it seems to be broken for all users.
I've emailed member services regarding that.
As for active rank, you're #10 right now, which means that you're the 10th most active user on TIG
right now. I'd say that's pretty darn high on the list. I hope you agree

Actually, the "Active Rank" is supposed to be just for staff. We programmed it in a few
years ago so we could start to automatically delete those at the bottom of the ranks who never use
our site.
We never actually got around to hiding it from your public profiles, so its essentially not a
ranking system for the users. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
