My understanding is that it has less particulate than ordinary diesel. So it is marginally
cleaner.
Bio fuel is carbon neutral using the same amount of co2 to grow the crop as it gives off when you
burn it.
There are some food issues involved. Valuable crop land is being used to grow this bio fuel and this
has led to a shortage of wheat grain and a corresponding rise in prices, this has a dramatic effect
on poorer countries where farmers are exporting their wheat to such an extent that there is not
enough left for domestic use.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately i've since found that there's nowhere local to me that supplies
biodiesel.
Having done abit more research i'm going to try a mix of 10% vegetable oil to 90% diesel - from what
i've read it may actually increase fuel economy, and it's roughly half the price per litre!
Wish me luck, i'l keep you updated on me oil burner's progress --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree that this world is already contaminated by the pollution. But we cannot lie to our own
selves that we do need energy as our daily resources. The thing is, fossil fuels (which contribute
the largest pollutions) are the non-renewable resources and soon it will become faster in the
depletion. What we need to do is trying to find the alternative energy which possess lower emission.
Earth lends us many resources and geothermal, solar cell, windmills, watermills (based on each
country's preference and geography) can be some good alternatives for us. All of them can reduce
pollution while give us energy.
Instead of these innovations from the experts that should be improved and the government that should
facilitate these innovations, the emission in the world also should be controlled by our habit. So,
there should be a cooperation between the government, experts, and society as a whole.

i agree. everybody can help reduce pollution by walking instead of driving. if the place is too far
away to drive then use a bicycle.

I totally agree. Way too much pollution. If only everyone would listen, some people are just to
ignorant.

This is how I try to stay green. I recycle, reused, and compost whenever I can. I also support
organic produce. This way I can support farmers who practice natural, non chemical farming technics.
The pesticides conventional farmers use pollute the air, water, and soil.

We can also put pressure on our governments to work towards developing renewable energy resources to
slowly move away from non-renewables such as coal. We cannot deny the human need for energy to
maintain our livelihoods but we should start thinking about doing so in a sustainable manner.

Preservation of forests is a key element to fight industrial pollution. They absorb carbon dioxide
that we create and play the role of a filter to turn it into oxygen.
Fighting against deforestation is for me a priority. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All kids have to go to school and not everyone lives next to their school. Everyone buys a car for a
reason so there going to wanna drive and not find rides to places. Pollution is very important and
we need to find a good way to reduce it.

I agree, not everyone is fortunate enough to be accessible to their school by foot or bike. The
solution here is to try and not use a car to drive one kid but looking into either using the bus or
carpooling. Maybe the parents can take turns driving a car full of kids rather than just driving
their own.

Yes. There is really so much pollution in our planet right now and what is sad is that despite the
continuous effort to make everyone aware of this,it seems that many don't really care. But I still
believe that we can reach masses and make them aware that our every action can make a very big
impact towards our environment. The least we can do is to be walking examples and start the change
by doing the small things. On my part, I would make sure that I won't litter anywhere. I'll make
sure that I'm throwing my garbage on the garbage can (or stuff it in my bag when i can't find any).
That act, I think, won't hurt anyone's ego, as well as it helps lessen the littered garbage and land
pollution. Also, it pays to recycle so that we can lessen the presence of garbage. It also hones our
creativity. Third is that we conserve water. Water pollution is very much prevalent and that lessens
the percentage of drinkable water in the world (.3%). If we conserve water, then we are all taking
responsibility of preserving the water that is safe for consumption. I believe we can all make a
change but first, everyone must be aware of the problem. That way, they can think of the solution.

I agree that there is way too much pollution, and it comes from many different sources.
There are simple solutions such as walking anywhere that is close by instead of using a vehicle,
consuming less (packaging, grocery bags, buying things that are 'want' instead of 'need', etc).
Then there are more major issues where governments and communities need to step forward and
propose/make some changes. Stricter laws for pollution created by coportations, bike lanes added to
streets to make it easier/safer for people to bike instead of using a vehicle.
I don't think that the majority of people in the world truly recognize the consequences of something
as simple as throwing a peice of trash on the ground instead of holding onto it until reaching a
garbage (or better a receycling recepticle).
