uhmmm....okay.
I see that this conversation is pointless. I agree that the "elite" families of the U.S are in control....but that is not because they are white. Was the Taliban white??? this whole conversation is ridiculous. Some of you really need to take a lesson in history....the WHITES did not single handedly start slavery it was in Egypt before the birth of moses for goodness sakes.

I agree with Kayla, you really need to go down to our local library and read up on the histories of the ethnic groups and practises that your talking about.
Now, as a student of modern history, I for one know that, old, white, particularly christain males are reponsible for the atrocities of the past, but if you read your text books and do "wide-readings" (that is the readings of minority sources of the contextual time frame you are talking about, eg reading a source of a black slave during the trans-atlantic slave trade)over several periods of history (read the source material of a black male during the civil rights movement or the vietnam war etc) then you will come to a better understanding of the "white man"
I also agree that elite families continue to rule. Aristocracy shall not be quelled. As long as you have the uneven distribution of wealth in society, as long as you have the uneven distribution of power and authority you shall have aristocracy. Although, we cant get communism to work just yet (LOL) so i suppose were just gonna have to live with it.
One last thing, to blame the "white man" and the "abuses of his power" for all that is wrong in the world is to be far to general. Slavery was practised long before the white man came along, look at religious text (if you choose to believe in them) and slavery shall be apart of them (depending what you believe in but the christain bible for a fact), drug use and distribution also was practiced in eastern conutries before the white man came along although I agree Reagan is by far the worst abuser.
Knowledge, education and wisdom have created powerful historical texts that have had a profound affects on this earth which have greatly benefitted society and an international community. These three qualities are what we need more of in our society.
I dont need to remind you about the Declarations of Independence, the Declaration of the rights of man, or the Declaration of Human rights, all created or founded by white men.
As historiographers do not see history in black and white, I believe that we must acknowledge our past to create a positive outlook for the future

paktheen80,
Please, calm down. Don't go to extreme. The way you are speaking reflects racism. There is a piece of truth in what you are saying, but you can't blame "white man" only. The mere fact that there are thousands and thousands of "white men" in Europe and America are struggling against imperialism of "white men" is a clear evidence that your argument is inaccurate. After all, there are so many "none-white men" who are engaged with the crimes you mentioned.
Cheers to everyone,
Arslan

Just be well informed of all sides of the problem. Support fair trade exchange and accept and incorporate differences in your community - you wil have peace, freedom and quality life as result.

I agree with Brian on this one, I think it does come to a few elite families who have maintained control over certain economic interest. But I do not believe that it is just white elite families, there are many different ethnic, successful if you want to say that, generational families. I think that even though this is how the thread was opened, to make it a racist issue, or just a white man issue, there are def. other aspects that could be mentioned here and this would be a terrific topic...but I must agree with the others as well, this chosen path is pointless. So lets find the educational and informational side of this and bring the topic around. Just my idea!
