Zip It Up !
December 1, 2004 - 09:42 AM

Today, as we all should know, marks the WORLD AIDS Day. It is a day one begins to imagine the true origin and purpose an individual could have developed such a viral infection to control world population. It has not only been dentrimental to health , but to the socio-political world eco-migrative industry.

Today, we recognize the death of humanity, the involuntary control of intercourse and the abuse of privacy. Report from the last olympic games showed a total of four million packets of condoms used by athletes. The total sum of useage per week stood at four thousand, five hundred and eighty. The more, they think, the merrier...as it affects thier profit scale.

Today, we see ourselves coming together to deliberate on the day called AIDS Day. A day some use to recount thier lost relatives, frieds and young wards who lost the right to live by chance or by fate, or thier choice.

Today, sad as i am, i pray that this generation will see the cure to it soon ! Amen

I spent 16 years in my homecountry Vietnam before coming to America for studying. I understand what HIV/AIDS means and the terrible affect on society. HIV/AIDS is one of the most concerned around the world, especially in some third-world country like mine. Some people was so scared of HIV/AIDS patients and don't even want to touch or communicate with them, even the patient is member in the family. They really need help to involve in the stream of society because life now seems too short for them. I had chance to join a volunteer group in order to help the kids who have HIV/AIDS from the parents. I couldn't help crying when seeing the innocent faces, dark brown eyes with pretty smiles. Unfortunately, some of them could not suffer HIV/AIDS any longer.
I want to send my message to everybody: please stand together and defeat HIV/AIDS, do whatever you could to help HIV patients, never make any mistake that leading to the century's disease, AIDS and please thinking about many kids who might not have chance to experience what the life is.

Safer Sex Prevents HIV
December 1, 2004 - 12:21 PM

Today IS World AIDS Day, and a good day to reflect on the spread of HIV/AIDS. I, like you, am feeling sad and also hopeful that our generation will see the development of a cure!
The high amounts of sexual encounters that make the Olympics infamous DO seen absurd, but I do not agree that condoms are solely promoted for profit. If people are highly sexually active, condoms are imperative for protection against Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI's) and I sincerely hope they are used (among other methods of protection)!
Please understand that people who develop AIDS do not "lose their right to live...by choice." Please be more sensitive.

thanks Vihoang for your message. I think it's excellent that you volunteered to support young people with HIV or AIDS. Was this in Vietnam or the U.S? Can you share the name of the organization with us, so that maybe more people can volunteer too? Website?

HIVAIDS:I have heard and seen so much related to the disease and it seems nothing can be done but to accept the fact that it is here thuogh we may find a cure soon. The most important precaution to take now,is to "zip up".Those already infected do need our support and care, not stigmatization.Let us join hands in promoting an AIDS free environment by keeping away from the virus, yet caring for those with the virus.

Sexually transmitted diseases are a sad and terrible thing...if we are going to engange in sexual activities it is important we educate our children and teens about HEALTHY living and how to protect themselves from these horrible diseases... www.sexetc.org has really great info about sex for teens and the information on the site is written by teens...check it out...it is interesting and a new approach on sex education.

i'm a microbiologist by profession, have attended local and international health conferences and also worked in a medical center and as such have a vast knowledge about HIV?AIDS, both the causative agents (virus), the devastating physical and psychological effect this disease has on not only the victim but the world at large and i am a firm supporter of the 'ZIP UP' attitude to preventing this deadly disease as i affirm this that though condoms might protect, they are not 100% effective and though you might keep one partner, how trustworthy are they? ZIP UP i say and lets not only protect humanity but help fight and curb this disease cos you never know the next person it may affect.
