Well, The Great US Of A issued another travel advisory to its citizens against Kenya, because of its fears about terrorism. So whats new!! Kenya has been attacked twice by terrorists (1998 and 2002). The terrorists were after Americans and Israelites in the respective cases. Let the ranting begin!!!
In this last month of November Kenya has hosted:
a: The UN Security Council Meeting on November 18 chaired by the American Ambassador to The UN - No terrorist attacked!! UN delegates and Kofi Annan attended the meeting
b: The International Summit For A Mine Free World which is currently underway - America has not signed the Ottawa Convention for reasons best known to Bush.
There have been other meetings,with the inauguration of the new Somali president, and a forum on the Great Lakes region. In all this time, no terrorist has attacked Kenya.
This is the third travel advisory by America. Other countries in Europe that had place advisories last year withdrew them in a matter of weeks. But nooooo!! AMerica is not satisfied with the efforts the Kenya Govt has put in place to curb terrorism. The Airports are sooo guarded you could die of Claustrophobia. There is a Tourist Police branch and a special Anti - terror unit just to deal with terrorism, an American threat. The terrorists are after Americans anywhere in the world, and in the two blasts, Kenyans were the majority casualties. In the 1998 attack USA decided it will not compensate the 5000 Kenyan BombBlast sufferers( but thats another story.)
I have had it up to here with this bullying. What we ever did to deserve this treatment is beyond me!! Even with the improvements made in security, we cant measure up to their "high American security standards". Why was Bush ever re-elected??
Dont get me wrong,Americans may be great people but it is government policies like these that have led to a bad image of the country. (And then Americans wonder why they are not liked!!)

LOL - old story. Safety first, diplomacy later. Brazilian govt made a clever gesture when USA insisted that also brasilian visitors to the states get photographed etc.. so brasilians demanded same for all visiting Americans. LOL.

I just realised that I cant expect any better from a country whose president is convinced that Africa is in Nigeria! I should let the Ministry of Foreign Affairs know about ur idea Katulus (Kaiser??)

Those who meet her in Vienna, Austria, are often regaled with tales of the countless magical tourist spots Kenya has to offer—often with the advice to ignore the damaging travel bans and warnings.
Elisabeth Kerschbaum first visited Kenya’s scenic South Coast in 1978 and was hooked.

Some of the tourists say Kenya could attract more Austrian tourists with a more vigorous campaign.
And they are not put off by American travel advisories which they dismissed as "ridiculous".
"We feel safe here in Kenya just like when we are in Austria. The American travel advisories cannot stop us from coming to Kenya for holidays," said a confident Kerschbaum.
