Help me understand Slavery....Homework help PLZ!!!!

hi all
My name is James Dagger, im 16 and i am a avid legal studies student currently studying Human rights for our class topic.
For a project we have recieve a task, instructing us to write a 7-10 minute speech about a human right issue, i have choosen slavery.
However, i am finding some problems finding relevant information on my topic, so i was wondering if any one out there could possible help.
my questions that relate to the question are:
What is the human rights issue? (slavery definition etc)
How isisn't this issue recognised and enforced?
and
How effective have legal and non-legal measures been in addressing this issue?
any information as posts would be helpful (as i always value discussions) websites or links would also be useful.

uve picked one of the most ineresting themes . and ur in the right place for info .for info first of all ud have to say HOW u wanna rite it , i mean based on absolute core facts / statistics or based on a story . If your a reader u gotta read roots - alex hailley before u start off. try that for inspiration

TOP MARK!!!

Hi all,
I GOT TOP MARK OUT OF MY YEAR!!!!!!! There's about 70 students (give or take) that do legal at my school, and i got the highest mark out of all of them. YES!!!! 90/100!!!
I wasnt sure how to start so i looked around at TIG on human rights and then went to the source....The United Nations websites, there was a stack of reports, conventions, convenants, articles and info all just lying around waiting to be sorted through. I put almost three weeks of dead heat work into it hunched over my laptop, finding statistics, defining different forms of slavery, reading conventions, and trying to make sense of it all!!!!
Truth be told i had alot of fun with this project, I LOVE public speaking, so writing a report to turn into a speech was interesting and fun. I used stats more then anything esle and definition of groups and forms of slavery, then i contrasted the groups efforts with the current stats of the slavery like practises to come to a conclusion about effectiveness. My teacher said it was a fantastic speech and gave me credit on ym information as well as my delivery.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone at TIG for supplying all this information, in a helpful and clear way, to the people that replied to this thread, i owe you guys one  and to everyone esle that helped along the way, giving me little bits and pieces, always remember its the small things that make up life.
