So... does this mean we've now lost the "spirituality and religion" and "pop culture" threads?? Or are they just hiding somewhere...?

Hey Terri,
They're just hiding. We're currently reviewing the posts and seeing if there's a more effective way to incite conversations about Religion, Spirtuality, etc. Trying to organize more effectively Hopefully, it'll be all sorted by Monday.

It may be best to just eliminate them from forums. People just arent ready for topics of that sort - look at what was written there and what were the consequences.
BTW: What happened to threads under "General discussions" Namely my ones - which were really good ones!

I'd take a different view - perhaps it is true that the spirituality board evoked the strongest reactions from people -but most of those disputes were solved by the people involved. THings like that are good to have on a board which styles it's self for 'young leaders'

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
Susheela and the TIG Toronto team are working hard to try and figure out the best solution. They have a new plan of attack, which will hopefully allow TIG to re-open some of the closed forums.
I do not think the general forum will re-open, however, since most of the posts had to be moved.

Just some feedback on the moved/closed sections. I really found TIG because of an Internet search brought me to the Religion/Spirituality section. I would hate to see it go. There were a few heated moments, but they were civil and productive in the end to everyone's betterment for the most part. Lots of growth there for many people including myself!
Just because the General section got a lot of attention, I still take time to check out all the otehr sections that apply to my interests. I do agree that a lot of threads ended up there that need moving. But does that warrant closing? hmm.

Hey BrianK!
Don't worry -- Either way none of the threads will be lost -- The board itself just might be removed, and we would move the threads elsewhere (leaving a redirect) if that was the case.
There are a few problems with keeping all of these boards, and one is lack of staff/volunteers to keep up with it all. I'll try to have a more solid response as to where the religion/spirituality stuff will be going soon

Thanks so much Susheela for your response. I can't imagine all the work you all do to hold this thing together. I has PMd several people about the religion section and everybody seems to be saying the same thing...keep it. If it comes down to a "division of labor" decision though, I understand.

Susheela, Do you only acknowledge Canadian volunteers to work in forums ? Just curious.
Because many other country people like me are there to volunteer if you necessitate any assistance!
I think its a gigantic lost for the TIG if you are going to seal down the spiritual discussion boards, there are controversies definitely BUT there is no place with out controversies, its a trademark of human curiosity .
Maybe you guys should have a voting from members prior to this conclusion.
I greet from Sri Lanka!

Canadian moderators only? Certainly not. We opened up forum moderation about a year (?) back and got few responses. We might be looking into this in the future.
As for threads that are missing, please understand that whatever isn't there right now may return. General will likely not, but as Susheela mentioned, Religion/Spirituality will likely return, we just need to plan things out before we do.
