Hello wonderful TIG Land. I attend college in Texas and I am the president of a club entitled Cultural Awareness Student Association, and I have lots of ideas for this group. Our goal is to become more aware and knowledgeable on cultures abroad, and the best way to accomplish that is to travel. I really want to take them abroad, involving ourselves in some form of aid concerning issues of poverty and development. I know there are endless possibilities out there, but I do not know where to start. The group does not have much money but is eager to raise what is neccessary. I am asking for information and ideas as to what, where, and how my club should act. Thank you for your time and information.

Dear Ubono.
Your idea is wonderfull and should work for everyones benefit. Are you interested in interacting with Pakistan and Muslim Society. I know that there is a lot of scope for improvement in our mutual ties (US & Pak). I also realize that there is a lot of controversy at present and tension all over the world. I refer to the West Vs Islam tradegy that is being enacted on the World Stage. Do let me know if you can take up this challeng. To bring together the Islamic and the Western World for the sake of Peace and Harmonious Sustainable Development.

In order to know if i can take up the challenge, I need to know more details. I do appreciate your response, and I agree that restoring Western relationships with Islam in the East is utmostly important. If you have more details so as to make clear a particular mission or project, please let me know.

Nice of you to respond so swiftly.
My idea is to involve US and Pakistani Youth in an Information Exchange and Support Program. This Program could include Open Source Networking for dweveloping an effective Knowledge Base to be used in Rural Pakistan.
This Project has a number of associated problems.
For knowledge to be effective it has to be presented in an understandable language and format. Even this will not be widespread due to low literacy rates. However with the concept of the Khidmat Foundation to establish Technology Receiving and Disseminating Centers, this aspect can be overcome by using the talents of young and educated workers who could access information through a wireless network.
The Khidmat Foundation has a member in the US who would be invaluable in providing Urdu Support (local language)
The first step would be to develop an open source web authoring program for Urdu Language input. It is a sorry state of affairs that we do not have anything of the kind in Pakistan. Of course the Khidmat Foundation could develop such a program with funds and this is where we are lacking.
This does not mean that we are looking for hand outs. This problem can be overcome by pooling mind resources from youth who are abreast with latest technological developments. Secondly there are a lot of funders out there who could be approached for support.
Another aspect of our activities that could greatly benefit from colloboration with a US based Not for Profit Group is verification of goods and materials that we intend to purchase. This aspect could also include guidance to resources that could be tapped.
For example I am looking for a US product called Aqua Clean ACF32. I read about this bioaugmentation product for liquid waste treatment. For the life of me I cant trace the manufacturers name or any link. The product is a collection of microbes from the Thiobaccilus Purple Group.
Other products are Ozonation Plants for water Filteration. We have an offer for a prototype and joint venture from the States. How do I verify the antecendants of the Manufacturer. How can I compare prices and look for better options?
We need to move towards Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, GIS, Water Purification, Sewage Treatment, Small manufacturer Networking, Food Processing and Packing, Export of Horticultural items, Low-cost Construction, Marketing and Open Source Programming.
These are a few general thoughts and could be tailored to suit your interests.
