Palestinian - there is no double standard - Israel is an ally - The United States has ZERO concerns that it will be attacked by Israel.
Iran marched missles through their streets last year with "death to America" written on them - Iran also has ties to terrorist organizations
so of course America feels differently about an ally on the one hand and an enemy on the other - that is common sense.
If someone was threatening you with a knife - would you want them to get a gun?
But personally what I find disconcerning are Clerics in Iran calling not just for the development but the USE of these weapons. That would be the beginnning of WW3.
And if you haven't noticed it is not simply the US but Europe and most Arab governments like Jordan, Saudi Arabia - and beleive me the Iraqis - be they the intern government or once one is elected.
France, Germany and England are the ones pressing Iran to end development.
I take it you don't beleive Iran either when it claims to be building for peaceful purposes.
Anyway Israel has been invaded 3 times - you still encourage hostility toward them - their arsinal is part of the reason Arab nations are afraid to attack them at this point.
I think if I was a small nation sorrounded by hostile forces calling for my destruction I would probably want some insurance as well.

no one beleives that Iran wants it for peaceful purposes -
why? Because Iran sits on top of the greatest natural gas deposits in the world - they do NOT NEED more energy. They have no reason to seek nuclear energy except to weaponize it -
that is why everyone is very concerned.

This is a pure example of double standards. "Isreal" has the most sophisticated weaponary arsenal in the Middle East yet it possesses around 200-500 nuclear bombs.
It does not need the nuclear bombs but we don't see the US or luke objecting it.
Second, Nixon administration helped the Iranians at the time of the shah develop their nuclear program when they had alot more natural resources than they have today. So that excuse of depriving them from the right to take advantage of nuclear energy for having less natural resources is very silly.

Depends how you look at it:
- Iranians will have to protect their weapons from being used against them !
- Israel could send an attack team to nuclear weapon storage and blow them up, creating a nuclear fallout - ruining half of the country.
- Arent people aware that possesing those weapons is also a safety problem?

Enrichment

As for the oil and gas supplies, Mexico decided to have nuclear power to maximize the amount of oil and gas they could sell.
However, the real issue is that Iran wants enrich its own fuel. If Iran only wanted nuclear power like South Korea or Taiwan, they could build the reactors and import the fuel directly. Water reactors like Iran proposes are not at all practical to make weapons material, but with enrichment facilities, you can enrich the material directly. If Iran were to give up on enrichment capability, probably it would be easier for them to get the reactors.
