Monthly theme Sensitivity,any ideas?
August 31, 2004 - 05:43 AM

Hi Everyone, thanks for the good work on monthly themes so far.
It unfortunate the link's been down over here but now everything's been sorted out!

This monthly theme on refugees has been one of a kind especially as far as understanding the facts is concerned. My sincere appreciation to the facilitators (Amy and group.

However, I believe through the influence TIG with the concerned authorities, something could be done about the refugee situation. I emphasise influence of TIG given that it has worked with over five UN agencies. The UN,as a world body, has a great stake on refugees as a responsibilty. Talk about UNHCR.

As TIG,I believe we can make a difference...forget about the 'lipservice' that governments and international bodies obliged to help have offered...ours can be an outstanding move that's action based.

Taking charge of a whole lot of refugees may be another task altogether, but in this case I refer to the lone refugee who's hungry and homeless, who was not given food while at the orphanage/camp,who was denied education at tender age,who had to escape from the fangs of death at the orphanage/camp,and the plight goes on and on. A panorama article on this would expose the plight and reasons of seeking refuge elsewhere in agony though, simply because of what goes on in the so-called 'protected areas'by governments and international bodies.

Could there be a possibility of we as TIG help in relocating this lone intelligent child who's left to the cold of the street because of circumstances unavoidable? That is just one of my humble suggestions.

We do not have to stretch ourselves but think of something and come up with concrete solutions to make a difference. With the grey matter that TIG is composed of,we can make a remarkable difference.

That's my strong conviction.Any ideas?
