So, U'll b counted as another VIEWER? YEAH??
August 9, 2004 - 07:29 AM

This forum is VERY weird.. i'm a newly member myself.. but i've noticed sth really odd.. why is there a GREAT number of people who viewed the thread but only a TINY number replied,, and in some cases NoBodY replies!!!!

Don't you guys think this is strange??? What's the point of a discussion board after all if no one is going to reply and set his/her point of view in public??!

"HELLO" it's CALLED "DISCUSSION BOARD", meaning, a place (=board) where people discuss issues together!

So now... would any of you 'viewers' reply to me???

I'll wait and C!!

Laila

PS: Sorry guys if my tone is a little aggressive,,, but am sure though you'd all understand the reason of that!

Since i am supposed to be record holder, if we talk about of number of posts, i feel obliged to reply you.

So i did. Consider urself "been replied to".

Yes i also feel a bit negativelly impressed if i post a new topic and i see 12 views and no post next to it. Would at least somebody write something to it, that i know my effort to write was anyhow productive and it made people think a bit?.

I think we should find a reason for this.. :S

Well Ave..

Thanks a lot for replying back. I really appreciate that..

You know, i thought after posting what i said last time, ppl would be a little bit ashamed of the fact that there are so many questions posted by other mates and nobody answeres them. I've been through that myself before too..

So, why not me and you go through some thinking and try to figure out why this fact is taking place?!

And yes of course 'viewers' you can share us too. I'm sure all of you are reading me now.. but why aren't any of you answering back.

I want somebody to stand up and defend you guys, maybe we're blaming u, maybe u don't have time to write, maybe you can't use the keyboard, maybe you think the topic is so silly... So, what do you guys think.. We'd like to hear opinions..

Meanwhile, me and Ave (plz don't let me down!!) will start with the brainstorming.. and lets find out what we'll reach!!

Laila
PS: waiting for ur reply AVE..

For sure i will reply. ( I am like that lizard from mexican desert, that bites, but doesnt lets go, as his jaws get stuck). BTW my name (nomen) is Katulus.
----------------------------------------------------------
In my profile i stated i love "brainstorming with friends". We are just acquantances, but anyway, lets start session.

You seem to be having some problems with non-talkativeness of guys. Well this goes far back into history. In beloved stone age, where guy went to hunt for food, and his woman stayed home and had time to waste babbling (now talking). Men used to use their muscles at anytime then and they did not forgot that till today. So they tend to talk less and not so "in depth or emotionally". Women do the opposite. But whats problematic in todays world, that this world requires BRAIN, MIND etc. At least now both genders are equal, as their skills are both half unusable. But lets say modern world is a bit positive towards woman on mans expense. This also creates a tremor betweeen genders as now women are string to grow a bit equal to men and refusing to be at home babbling, but to go outside work and even get food on her own.

Anyway - this is my first addition to "Brainstorming on TIG". We could open topic with that thread on a proper place.

ABOUT NON TALKATIVE
August 12, 2004 - 05:47 AM

Most of the time people feel reluctant to talk about issues because they think they will insulted for bring out their views but at times their fear of not provoking others tneds to hurt the very cause that we lead.beacuse if one does ot speak out how can we identify the probelms of the world and find solutions to them albeit partial solution..

Most at times people also think that we cannot just be talkative when there is nothing he/she needs to talk about.People contribute to issues when they feel that the issue at stake is relevant to the discussion on board.
All we need to do is encourage more people to share their views.....

In peace

Hi Laila,

i definately feel what you are saying. as a not so old member myself i get the same feeling of frustration i post topics and then don't get enough response. it's really disheartening! as far as i can, i try and respond to discussions that i'm interested in. how about we form a commitee that only responds to each other's threads that way those 'viewers' feel left out?

Sandra.

As Shahiddisu excellently put it, we can become much more talkative if we find what interests the other side. Even better if two have found a similar interest! (lets say me and john doe both love computers, so we sure have lots to talk about).

I will go and chack up my profile now, to see if i properly stated out my interests, that others visit it and see if its worthwile "brainstorming with me".

(I'll be back smile

I will respond to this interesting post because it brings up something I have wondered about myself...and also perpetrated. If I view a thread (like this one for example) because I am drawn in by the subject head and just don't feel after reading the posts that I have anything to add...or usually pressed for TIME...I'll just move on. I used to be more prolific with posting but am a little more judicious now. Mainly because I'm spending more time doing non-interactive personal studying online on religions...which has been great. So will I stop doing "fly-bys"? No, but I will be more thoughtful about it.

we just can not avoid not getting what we expect. people have interests. they have established some rapport with certain members. some threads are also abit challenging either negatively or positively to an extend that after viewing it one lacks the words to reply to it.

it is also interesting that one can start a thread and it takes a turn that one never thought of. this is valuable as it widens the scope but in some cases it may also make the thread loose its sense.
take heart if your thread is not replied to. may be you can keep yourself involved by replying to what others have posted.

Gideonwafula, dont you agree, that when we are taking part in such discussions, we behave much more "relaxed" meaning, we take less care on what we say, with less sensitivity, as we know, nobody can "get to us" if we say something negative about others?

When people get aware there is virtually nothing stopping them, they get preety daring and sometimes rude..

kaiser the blanket of anonymity helps many in such like discusions. they are sincerely rude and seem to portray themselves in a light that leaves the other party wondering and guessing. but most of those who do that express only one big thing - the restless and dualistic and maybe malicious selves. they do not trust themselves because they know they are cunning, i think, and conseguently they do not trust any other person. they do not care about anything that they write to others because they do not very much care about who they are and who they are supposed to be. some of them are so much into the doctrine of leberalism or absolute freedom that they are reckless yet man is limited in so far as he exists in this our world. i very much agree that many, even me, enjoy the comfort of the blanket of anonymity but maybe they should try the blanket of genuineness and authenticity and have something to compare with their blanket of anonymity then they can ,in freedom, make the choice. the choice is between taking advantage of because of the wrong ideas we have or remainig a living presence of truthfulness. by the way, many people no longer have friends in there sorroundings. many have their friends on the net or some compensate by wasting close to whole days on web sites.

Gideonwafula:

You know that i am *slightly* different, especially in relating with others as a result of being Futurist. (I go by rule that one making A decision, looses his right to privacy which becomes object of public interest. As a decision making is also understood when you get into position to decide on behalf of others - as is the case in thsese forums).

Thats why i try to keep as up to NO opinions about others, i only give advice, give requested help and avoid cases, which would demand from me my "defining to the case". I want to create, deliver and improve and use all energy there. Arent we on TIG here ONLY to help and improve environment and living of eachother? Any other reason is unproper.

Furthermore, you hit the direct center, when you claimed that freedom has its conditions. To say more i add this thought: Freedom is expensive! e.g. People that dont have resources (money, personal property) have virtually nothing from it.
