REFUGEE REPUBLIC

There is / was a project for developing an interest community for refugees, using the internet networking potentials. http://www.refugee.net/ is the URL. it indicates 2001, so it is probably closed and the editor never replied to my question. Establishing such may have some effect on giving the number and identitiy of refugees a face and lobby.
The site states:"The officially acknowledged 23 million refugees of an ever-growing refugee population (unofficially estimated at 50 million) is scattered all over the world, parked in UN camps. By now, the number of unregistered displaced persons worldwide has reached one percent of the world population.", which is more than the TIG numbers. Quite probably, the official numbers are way to low.
Is somebody interested in starting a project in TIg for such an online environment? It could also be used as a worldwide accessible dialogue environment for USE IN SCHOOLS and educating kids on the true issues and face of refugees. We could arrange this in the context of www.worldfutureschool.org.
If you want to start such, drop a line to eric@worldfutureschool.org
