the world they say have turned to a global vilage, globalisation have lead us to come together but the more we join hands together the more chances of spreading HIV/AIDS. lets join hand together and fight dreaded disease especially among youths , if you are interested, do something in your community. your help can help save the world.

i agree with you, the more closer we get the higher the chance of spreading the deadly disease. the real issue is to practice self control. without that, i don't see africa in existence in the next 100 years. hope they find the cure, medical scientists are working flat out to find the curre. strides are being made you know, ever heard about the ccr5 protein?

Community action is key. Cures are, unfortunately, restricted to the rich. On the bright side, they never did find a cure for the black plague all those years ago but we are still here. HIV/AIDS will do its worst but already some people are naturaly immune.

Self control & Vaccines

Yes natural immunity is there but we really cannot rely on that. Thats why I say self control and vaccinations are the only solutions. I agree the vaccines will initially be accessible to the rich but eventually they will get to the poor. Lets not lose hope.

Itai, i suppose, that was abit pessimistic as to say that you do not think Africa (our beloved mother land and people) will not exist in the next 100 yrs. personally, i think that we shall still be there and going strong. it is true that the epidemic is really ravaging africa south of the sahara but we have not reached desperation as such. people are working hard, and i have seen campaighns of all sorts taking place.
our world as the global village it has become, i think, may also help to an early eradication of poverty. this is because information in the village is easily accessed by people from whatever corner. people can co-operate and share ideas on how they are managing the epidemic in their places.
and people may also learn about other people's lifestyles and value systems that may help them, after comparison, to check their lives.

Yes Gedion, I agree I was a bit persimistic, my effort to draw attention. Rember Rev. Thomas Malthus predicted calamity in the US due to increasing population? and the calamity was prevented by the green revolution? Lets try to do as much as we can to save ourselves. We have to be worried as to what the earth will become after we are gone? There was influenza, smallpox, measles, polio etc etc, they made their marks on earth but now we can safely say they are being managed well. This is the point in Gedion's repply. It is true, it shall come to pass but lets not sit back banking on history to repeat itself. Thats my message.

Self control can go a long way in this matter, everyone need to examine and control his or herself.
Tai, I really thank you for all your contribution; I will want you also to understand that scientist are not yet stop taking time to find all the best way to stop all the deadly diseases seriously facing our environmental.

I mentioned earlier that i have seen campaighns against Aids all over. that is good and it is encouraging that many people are conserned and are doing their best. but i have observed something very interesting in my place. Most of the seminars are either done in the upper rooms or in the project co-ordinators office.
Those that manage to reach the field, come with music systems and play enough music for the youths.
Others tell the youths to dramatise the disease.
All these are ways of reaching people in special ways but i feel that they somehow make people take things for granted. Some of the young people who dance in this road show Aids campaighns do not give a damn about the message. The thrill of the music or the film or the drama takes supremacy over the message.
Some resort to showing very horrific scenes. These ones just make people's senses rebelious but do not realy help people to be self-disciplined.
I think family to family awareness method may somehow be more effective
I also think that Aids education being included in the schools, colleges, universities and all forms of institutions of learning's curriculum can help a great deal.
I also think that governments full support is the only way out for successiful campaighns.
