Hey guys, just popped into the board because I have a love for learning about cultures and Indigenous peoples.
here's a website that I think you guys will like. Its a notforprofit british organization concerned with conserving indigenous cultures around the world. They have good information on each group and on how to help.
www.survival-international.org
FYI: the website is translated in a lot of languages

Allison and Melina, how do I say this?

I went to the site, AOL pop-block caught theirs, and as that page opened I noticed that over 100 files opened after all of the pictures and buttons opened, that told me that they use all kinds of spy-ware and ad-ware, and one of the first buttons you will find is Kid-Stuff and Gift Shop and near the bottom square in the middle in smaller letters is donations. I would say this site is just a scam to play on your simpathy and take your hard earned money. But I promise they will say Thank You in nice big letters.
Is there a place to donate to T.I.G not that I have any money to donate, it's just that I haven't found it?
Tell you what pull up Task Mannager and click on the processes Tab and Lower all of your Security Settings on all of your Fire-Walls and Turn off your Virus software and any thing else that We have to have to protect our Systems, then open up that page.
Peace/Out,
gene

Nugene - it's not a big scam - on the contary it's a fantastic site which provides information that many people wouldn't get otherwise.
I've been on it many times before and am speaking with the people there about helping to raise awareness about the plights of tribal peoples at my uni.
Don't knock something that people are trying to do for good.

Melina and Daniel, I did not mean to construe that the site and the organasation are a scam. I only meant that as in the real world, don't buy a pig in a poke, in other words check out an organasation before you send moneys. But if Daniel says the site is cool it probabaly is legitamate.

Beleive me i've come to know some of the people who work there - it's a legitimate group.
Yes there is a online shop and things like that - but which websites don't have these things nowadays.
Some of the stuff in the shop is quite good - the Christmas catalogue is well worth a look (i can't afford anything but i'm a student so affording food is done at a stretch).
It's really good that Survival have all their things in so many languages - unfortunatly for what i'm doing Welsh isn't one of them.
Our uni has a policy that all material should be in both English and Welsh.
