[Poll] poverty and tribes

Tribes are socially rich economically poor. Nearly 68 million Tribals lived in India according to the 1991 census but number has now reduced substantially as forests reduced and their dependence on forest resources minimized. Economic and modern life style forced them to come out to get mixed with modern generation, but did not get proper attention and respect of their culture so most of them still live in below poverty line.

what is your working definition of Tribes? as this has inherent developmental weakness because in most countries tribes cut across nations and even regions

Tribal existance is one of needs not wants - they take what they need from the earth - not worrying about money or they will pay the bills, or afford new clothes - they have the knowledge how to care for all their needs.
If we were all still living a tribal existance the world would be a much better place.
