Help in fundraising ideas

I've tried unsuccessfully to fundraise to attend the International Student Symposium to be held at the Hague in July. Its been pretty demoralising and the financial strain is not a good feeling...
Does anyone have any tips for fundraising?

Hey I know the feelig, but don't give up! Go to big companies, promise them that their name is going to appear on the sponsors page of the conferece (you'll have to talk to the organizers), also that you are going to promote the company, organization, school and so on!
make them feel that they're going to make something out of you! They give you the money but what do you give them!
I am sure you'll find the money! I am certain that in Australia is not as hard as in Romania where even if they have some money they don't want to give it away!

Writing letters requesting donations to companies wif a small proposal to show that you are a worthy person to receive any sort of funds.

Thanks for the tips.
I didn't manage to fundraise for the symposium but I'm now fundraising for an internship I've arranged to do with a Vietnamese NGO. Hopefully I'll be more successful with that!

Hello,
I can relate with you. I used to go to corporates for funds. Quite a hard thing. But i have embarked on a long term fundraising strategy. Check in out at www.aiesec-fundraiser.blogspot.com
Have a great fundraising.
