we know we have poverty but what are we doin about it

we know poverty is in dis world but are we doin anythin about it?
we talk about poverty but we dont take action. like come on we teens have the worls in our hands it going to be ours soon . we should at least care enough to force da adults to help.
we send money . but money is not everythin we need get them to be happy wit their life
would u become a doctor just so you can go help dem would you do dat ? how far will you go to help dem?

Because there are just enough people rich and right enough middle class, that enjoys either super or good living. There are not "enough" poor people in a country to form a critical mass, which would broke the existing order and call for good reforms. Thats probably the main cause.

I think that there are "enough" poor people in all of the developing countries, and I think that if all the poor people world wide unite they will definately outnumber the bourgeoise and the upper classes.
The problem is, these people feel helpless to bring about a change. They are over exploited by the Multi-National companies (MNCs) and by their own governments as well. In the 1970s in Egypt, when the bread price went up, there was a major bread riot that these people themselves went out and called for bread price reduction. That was one good collective action. But they just can't go out in demonstrations all the time.
These countries recieve aid from developed countries, international organizations, etc. The real problem is this money falls in the wrong hands, or ends up being spent on the least important projects. The World Bank had figured out the problem and started giving out grants with aid conditionalities. The problem is not yet completely solved, but it helped in reducing the problem.
I think that personals from the developing countries should start taking responsibilities. Working from within the society will develop it, because the people of the developing world know exactly what they want and need. But they can't do it all by themselves, they still need the professional experties from the developed countries.
Developing countries should start finding ways and means by which they can be less dependant on the developed nations.

Difference between the Poor and the Rich is very high in poor countries. We ought to pay attention to reduce this difference.

Personally, I really don't think there is another way of helping the low-classed people except donating them money. How else can we help these people? What they need the most is money, because they have financial problems. Sometimes even one dollar is enough to help a family live one more night, because our money worth more, and things wouldn't cost so much for a dinner in developing countries.
I think the real problem is that the money in developing counties aren't separated enough. What I mean is that some people have tons of money while some poor families die of hunger. They couldn't even afford to reach their needs! So the most effective way to help these people is to give money, because what would they need if they can't even survive? Do you think it matters to them to have a tothbrush? I do not think so.

I don't necessarily agree that giving "them" money is going to do anything. There is an old proverb that says 'give a man a fish and you feed him for a night, but teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime' or something very close to that. I think a lot of the cause of this poverty around the world has to do with this idea that we are helping people by giving them money. I don't think it is the solution. To truly help develop a country or a region or whatever it needs to start at the grassroots. Education is going to have to play a huge factor in any development work that takes place...I don't think the importance of education can be stressed enough. The education also needs to be effective, meaning we can't have this one curriculum that is for the entire planet, but we need to adapt our education systems to the needs of the region...we need to be much more systematic on our approach to economic development.

Our western civilization depends on the exploitation of poor masses. The western countries couldn't survive if they wouldn't get cheap products from the east and south. We probably could survive but some very major changes would be needed.
But u can see, that changes are on the horizon. Our consumer society has filled itself up (dropping sales) and met problems again, that have for long been forgotten (war, fear,...). We were to arrogant to notice problams that didn't affect us (poverty, hunger,...).

Well.. I dont know what to add to this:
A much more solidarity, but not blind generosity. First build up some trust among people again and move on. Still best exchange goes by giving and taking, not by lending and then writing off debts. With such things we only support unreasonable behaviour.

i think we should cut the salaries of the rich by half! and give the money to the poor! but i think in western countrieswe should first observe the "poor" cos you can see some that "pretend to be poor" driving round in expensive cars and having all the modern things some only dream about but they get social help and stuff!

The biggest problem is that most of the people that have the power to make a difference are in complete ignorance of the real level of poverty in developping countries, either by choice or by circumstance. A lot of people simply turn their backs on reality and decide that there's just too manby problems and they would never be able to make a difference. But if everyone makes a small contribution, the world would be a much better place. Financial support is necessary, but it is only a temporary solution. To truly help these countries we must help them become self-sufficient and rebuild their governments and economies, because without a strogn foundation they won't have a future. They can't become dependent on outside aid because then they will forever remain developing countries. Helping these countries build their own future can be done mainly through education, because it will open doors where none seem to exist. If enough people learn basic skills and have enough dedication to stay in their own country and use those skills, then eventually they will get out of this stagnation and start to make progress. Of course this is a very general solution and each country has unique circumstances, but I think that's the most important idea.

I think for some time, during the period of "empowering" the given poor country would loose some of its independence towards the "sponsor", "mentor" country.
E.g., If Germany decides to empower a specific african country, they should be allowed to participate in some legal affairs and especially financiall affairs side-by-side with local leaders.
I think this would be good way.

Interesting Replies...
Personally I have lived in developing countries before and with situations like this, speaking from experience, I'd say money is defintely not all the help we can do to help cure poverty in our soceity.
we gotta show love, we gotta live with these people and put ourselves n their shoes, beleive me, when I lived in Africa, and you truly have a soft heart, beleive me, you will think of ways to help them out, and i beleive helping them out in whateva way you think your heart wants to do is also good..
My friend helped organize an elementary school and in everyway she is helping the society grow, first by cutting down the illiteracy level, then that moves on to the next step.....
These and some other ways are which we can help cutout poverty rate in the soceity especially the less developed nations..

poverty has eaten into our heart so deep people dont think its possible to ever break away from it.
UNTIL WE CHANGE THAT MENTALITY WE WILL REMAIN PORR IN HEART AND IN SPIRIT.
once we can correct this thinking mentality we can decide what method of correcting poverty iossues to take whether monetyary or otherwise
