Sorry to deceive you but the world will never be peaceful.
There will always be wars until the end of time...
Here is an example, it's an evidence that Iraq wars is for petrol , we can say it's an avant-goût of what will happen in the future.
China will need more and more petrol , and petrol ressources of saudi arabia( biggest exporter ) are not eternal.
There will be a lack of petrol , tensions will arise, and BOOM, war. That's simple....

i not only think that world peace in possible i think it is an essential step in human evolution. Some people say that it is impossible that human conflict has and will always exist this is true and there will always be conflict between nations, states, and people but eventually humanity will reach such a level of maturity that no contry will let it escalate into war. it's like this. when you were a kid you could never imagine that you could ever fall asleep without your teddy bear and you though it was immpossible for you to ever do this but as you grew up you began to understand that it is not essencial... the same is true for war in the state things are now it may look impossible but it is not only possible but, i think, inevitable.

i don't know, i think it can happen even with super powers except the super power(s) has to understand and acept that they have certain responsabilities towards smaller countries... or better yet how about 1 country and all mankind it's citizens sounds good to me!

Yes, peace is possible, and the world will be eventually a peacefull place. If we look at past, we have gone through so much violence, and comparatively we are peaceful right now. But it would never be a hundred percent peaceful place.

no i dont think the world will ever be peaceful because there are too many greedy people in this world. I mean its terrible that there are a couple of people in this world that are filthy rich and they would rather have three houses than to help the poor. Then they justify themselves by giving 500,00 to the poor when they have more money than that. Because of greedy people this world will never be peaceful.

very true kaiser but the question still stands i will quote if i may a favorite author of mine, in his book "Jihad vs. McWorld" Benjamin R. Barber writes:
"To build the new world that is now required calls for a new Declaration of Interdependence, a declaration recognizing the interdependence of a human race that can no longer survive in fragments [...] No nation ever again is likely to experience untroubled prosperity and plenty unless others are given the same opportunity. i couldn't agree more! so peace is possible but it requires sacrifice on the part of the richer nations and understanding on the part of all peoples.

As payamos said. Its not guaranteed that BIG ones will start up the violence. People still done feel responsible for eachother. Currently we are limited to this planet, which is not endless. So we have to act very economical if we want to take peacefull way in providing that already famous "good living for all". Faster it is, if you are stronger, you can afford is is to plan and simple take what you need by using unfair approach (violence, extra profitting, colonialism and free capitalism). All those take more than they give in return. Its known by all that there is enough of just anything to really enable good living to all. But it would be too complicated to do so. It would require too much sharing for European ego to allow it. Those with advantages would have to share many of them with disadvantaged, relying only on "trust and hope", while knowing how things happened in past.

To make things more understandable is add this:
Relation of GIVE & TAKE (so much mentioned in Futurism itself) is also a good approach to achieve peace:
By giving and taking to eachother, we can establish positive relation, which by itself preserves peace as under such terms, people can actually benefit very fast from it.

Give and take has always existed and sharing of natural resources is essential to attain a balance between the rich and poor which will lead to peace eventually i think
except i don't think what the world needs is more money or ressources it's something more than that. to achieve world peace in my mind many people have to change their intire outlook on the other peoples of the world.

This is a great question...but I've always learned to never say 'never'. As soon as we believe it can't be done...then we find a way. I'm sure if 100 years ago someone posted the question of whether we will ever be able to walk on the moon, their might've been a lot of negative answers.
So, I was thinking what would it take to unite the world. If you've ever seen the movie "Independence Day" I think they have an answer...a common enemy. So, if a group of Martian soldiers started attacking our world, I think we would all come together to combat that. Now this doesn't constitute a peaceful world...but what I think we could look at is rather than martians we could see that, as someone mentioned in an above post, there is a more immediate threat, or enemy, and that it is within us. racism, intolerance, greed...all these disunifying forces are the enemy. Once we realize that, not only will we unite to combat this...but it will also lead to a very peaceful world...

It's hard to predict the future. Of course, we all want our world to be peaceful, but it's pointless to just talk about that. We cam discuss it nonstop, but will it do any good? let's all be optimists and hope that the world peace is not something unreacheable. And let's just try to do something for it instead of just discussing the chances for this world to survive. Sure, the predictions of the future and the analisis of the development trends are necessary, but we as the citizens can also do a lot.

The world ever being peaceful is quite a long way to go, check, there are many causes of war around ranging from globalisation, religion, natural resources which is also linked to population explosion and many others.
I would say that it would be possible to attain peace if at all any of those causes was showing any sign of phasing out but none seem to be doing that.
The other thing is that the organisations that are handling the peace process are just to weak and are puppets of the perpetrators so there is no chance unless something big happens, i am actually awaiting a miracle about that.
