If you became a teacher for a day...
February 11, 2010 - 05:56 PM

If you were a teacher for a day and using your knowledge of IT etc, how would you incorporate it into a lesson to improve on the way you are being taught at the moment, how would you incorporate more interest and motivate your students using Technology and computers?

Looking forward to some creative replies.

If I were to become a teacher for a day, I will be using the reporting method but this time,I will be giving my students a far greater challenge. My students will have to do a short movie or skit about the topic by groups using camcorders. I will allow them to go around their surroundings to shoot their scenes. After doing so, they can use a movie editing software installed in a computer to edit their movies. Once they are done, their films will be shown in front of the class using an LCD projector. They will be giving their feedbacks too through a form in the computer.

I know that my students will be more motivated and interested in the topic because I will also enjoy this activity if I am in the same position. Aside from utilizing IT in the lesson, this will also give the students a time to work and bond with each other. They will also be forced to broaden their creativity and imagination.

For me, the best way to learning is to learning by myself so I think that if I know that If I can be a teacher for a day, I will make some online lessons and experiments before I become a teacher.

Then, when I become a teacher, I will teach them from the online lesson and let them do the experiment and make a note from the experiment by themself. This will make them learning by understanding not from remembering and they can access the lesson or experiment any time. I can also upload a new lesson or a new experiment to them any time too.

if i were a teacher that is capable in using ICT well in one day,

I will make the learning be much more fun by utlising IT. Numerous application in computers (power point, flash, java) to explain some scientific theory and experiments for example. This will help the students comprehend the theory better through movie and animation, rather than just showing formula-problems and such things which is so boring and plain.
i could also make a format of interactive study in groups that require student to browse on internet-looking for matters and fact. they will actively feel enganged in subjects, eventually get excited and be spiritful.

Throughout some newly creative ways, we will inculcate the IT utilisation in class and brush up the intellectuality-creativity of students.

If I became a teacher for one day, I'll have a good position to share with other teachers how to use computer to make Powerpoint slides attractively & effectively smile It's not easy for a student to sharing their knowledge with their teacher, because of their different in position.

well, if I became a teacher someday, I would know how students feel when they are taught by that style. I will ask them to divide into group and take part into a small competition to ask them to be teachers with integration of Technology into ways of teaching. which group has the most creative method of teaching will be the champion. using competitiveness in education may bring out unforeseen results smile

If I become a teacher for a day, I would start the day with an introduction of myself with the use of PowerPoint. Then, I will tell my students to make one and introduce their selves with the use of PowerPoint. Then, I will also present my lessons with the use of PowerPoint and I will show them the use of technology and tell them the importance of it.

I like all these ideas, but i would like the go beyond powerpoint, and basic microsoft applications.

Introduce them to a new world of how things on the internet are made, how everything works.

As a Java developer i sometimes teach people the basics of how to program, and the look on their face or expression in their text should i say, when they first grasp the language and use it to simply say "Hello world!" is amazing, and giving that feeling to everyone would be worth it for me.

ArKadian is probably right. We should go beyond just the Microsoft Office. We should expand our knowledge about other stuffs concerning ITs.

By the way, it's great to know that you actually teach people how to program, ArKadian. Good Luck with that and God Bless! wink

I think I won't teach them knowledge of any subject. I'll teach them how to get knowledge.

My students will be given computers connected Internet. They will know how to access to the biggest library in the world, how to use iMindmap, MS Office, for example, for their studies.

Just my imagination, hehe stick out tongue

hello guys!

my course is music education and someday i'll be a music teacher. well, technology will really play a vital role because it will help me in my teaching methods. Use of powerpoints, software on music productions, recording, and other components needed for the subject. But aside from that, teaching is really my passion. In music, we are more in teaching technics and virtuosity, not much to depend on technology... hehehe

I am already in the process of becoming a teacher due to a recent career change. Anywho, if I was a teacher for a day, I would definitely incorporate IT into my lesson plans. One of the things that I would use would be well-organized power points. Power points seem to help students learn very well and are a great resource for them. Another technique that I would use would be online teaching. I would make sure that every student used this technique because it has been discovered that online teaching has been very beneficial for all students. Hopefully, I get some teacher jobs soon so that I can actually incorporate these ideas one day. What would you all do if you were a teacher for a day?

Paul
