UNODC on human trafficking and migrant smuggling
Human trafficking is the acquisition of people by improper means such as force, fraud or deception, with the aim of exploiting them.
Smuggling migrants involves the procurement for financial or other material benefit of illegal entry of a person into a State of which that person is not a national or resident.
Blue Heart
Virtually every country in the world is affected by these crimes. The challenge for all countries, rich and poor, is to target the criminals who exploit desperate people and to protect and assist victims of trafficking and smuggled migrants, many of whom endure unimaginable hardships in their bid for a better life.
As the only United Nations entity focusing on the criminal justice element of these crimes, the work that UNODC does to combat human trafficking and the smuggling of migrants is underpinned by the United Nations Convention on Transnational Organized Crime and its protocols on trafficking in persons and migrant smuggling.

These human traffickers must realize that they 'smuggle' are human beings capable of intellegence and feeling emotions. People can't just turn a blind eye towards the situation.
What if the same happen to them??

I think that human trafficking is a major worldwide issue. It is very sad to know that us as humans dont think about all the kinds of things that are caused by this. Innocent life's are taken for no apparent reason and its the harshest thing to go through. We need to put an end to ALL of this!

If society is to achieve its development and Peace building agenda, it must frankly declare human trafficking as a non billable crime, because human trafficking promotes high level of criminality and shorten population of a nation. Human trafficking is becoming a serious social problem that is affecting the fabric of society, this act is now been transform into adoption thereby taking people under the prudent that they are taking the child or person to another society for support and to become part of their family but their latent minds are to promote such an unwholesome act.

Human trafficking affects nearly everyone in the world on some level, whether it be completely obvious, or by a certain degree of separation.
Human trafficking is not limited to the sex trade, it is also connected with child labour, industries of mass production, not just in third world countries.
For instance, the cocoa trade; every year up to 200 000 children are kept on cocoa plantations in the Ivory Coast and Ghana.
Major chocolate companies buy the raw products of the world trade markets where chocolate from the Ivory Coast and Ghana make up approximately 50% raw product available to make chocolate.
Slavery is all over the world and affects countires one might not think to have human trafficking (besides teh sex trade). The US Department of Health and services estimates that 42% of the more or less seventeen thousand people trafficked into the United States each year are forced to work in factories, on farms or as domestic labour.
Our daily choices, regardless og how small could have a massive impact on human trafficking. Probably the best way to try and combat this major issue is to ask question and be aware of where our food, clothing and other resources are coming from. Choosing fair-trade products is a step we can take to stop the devastion of human trafficking.
