Equal pay for both sexes

Recently in class I found out that some people feel women do not deserve equal pay because we "leave and go have babies". I think that is absurd. That is punishing women for perpetuating the species. So now I need more points. Plz give me what you feel are the best reasons that we all, men and women, deserve equal pay and how can we remedy societies insistence that women still receive less than men for equal work.
