Hey, am doing a research in that regard (elimination of war) and am looking for views from people like yourselves. Please help me by stating what you feel. Or you can just quote for me web links and books which i can use to source the info.

Assist me in anyway that you can.

Thanx. Mahatma

It is a great idea. finding a way to eliminate war btn and within nations. Like all others would say i may also suggest you something like.. practice peace at home and if everyone does that, we can eliminate war. bla blah blah!

but what i believe.. it is really NOT possible.

as i am an indian, let me take an example from one of the Hindu Holy Books, that the world is made with two bad with a good in the middle. what ever it may be. but it is true that without bad things, there is no existance of goodness. like, without negative and positive charges, a bulb cannot produce light.

think about a world where there is only good things.. it will be like in a hell, and we will start hating the goodness too.

so what i believe, is it is worth trying to control wars.. but not to eradicate or eliminate war. it is really NOT possible.

would like to hear openions from others too

thanks

regards

roshan

AS Nesreen excellently told, i add: Agression is what pushes us forward and makes ur develop and civilize. Too bad we dont have "fine touch" at applying that agressiveness. And sometimes there is an overdose of agressiveness, which means war, conflict and similar, which are very damaging things.

What do to prevent such things? Just be reasonable and fair and do good things to eachother.

Wars have created nations and destroyed others. All generations had experienced one or more form of a war. Tribal wars, ethnic wars, great world wars, colonial wars, and racial wars.
Its a human nature, to always want more... To explore different countries or to find a new place for settlers, or to exploit resources or to solve ethnic, racial, and tribal problems. There is always a reason to go into a war, and if there is no convincing reason, another one is found.
So its impossible to eliminate wars in my opinion. Moreover, if military wars could stop (and that is impossible) scientific wars will replace them.
Great empires rise and fall with wars, and for every period of time there is one empire.

"ractically ignored in the Abu Ghraib torture scandal are the Iraqi female prisoners who have told their attorneys they were raped by U.S. soldiers. The Taguba report confirms that some women were indeed raped by American G.I.'s. There is one photo of an American soldier having sex with an Iraqi woman. And there is the by now infamous story of how American soldiers harnessed a 70-year-old woman and rode her around, calling her a donkey. "

that was a quote from the news i found in this forum itself

If the pretending peace keepers are doing this kind of things, in the name of punishment. we really don't have to think about eliminating war. think about hiding ourself from getting killed one day. and live in that fear. and waste a whole life time. what elese we can do?

when searching in google, found this poetry.

a translation from malayalam poetry

Peace
by Balachandran Chullikkad (Malyalam)
Translated by N Kunju

I don't fear the king
So I tell the truth.

Our peace
is the length of cordite
that connects bombs;
it awaits fire.

Our peace
is the distance
between a beating heart
and a rushing bayonet;
every second it is reduced.

Our peace
is chanting of Ram's name
when the three bullets pierced
the half-naked body;
it can't save the country.

Our peace
is the last breath
of the one who falls down
unable to show his right cheek
when slapped on the left;
He may as well die.

Our peace
is the silent accused
standing in the dock;
judgement is always against him.

I don't fear death
So I tell the truth about life.
