I think affanibanni was being sarcastic, ema. Can you go into more detail, spuddude? What do you think is the worst thing about the current state of the environment? Pollution, deforestation, endangered species...?

i think that your right SilentSorceres. He most likely was being sarcastic...or so i hope.

The Enviroment is not what it used to be. if it was, then alot of people would not be worried about it. we can return the enviroment to what it was if we work very hard. But we all have to work together towards it. Deforestation is a very big problem. we need to keep places for animals to live and reproduce on their own. if we log every forest and keep all the animals in zoos, we'd run out of food for them, and would never be able to have anywhere to get away from the city. Forests are places that people like to go to get away from the busy streets of cities and from their jobs. people go to forests because of a hobby that they like (eg. bird watching). if we cut down all the forests, then these people would be forced into doing the same thing as everybody else. birds would not really have anywhere to live other then on the tops of rooves or the odd pole that has a large enough top to fit a nest.

again, if we can return the enviroment to how it was, it means a cleaner future for our children, and their children. if people would work together, not just on one day or one week of the year, but for a large amount of time, or a little bit for years, then you never know how far we could take the world. scientists would be able to focus on different things other then having to rebuild the enviroment.

if somebody tried to organize something like a world wide clean up, would you support them?

well , i think the most problem that faces the environment is pollution & deforestation cuz (( thats my opinion )) other problems comes as a result of these two .

im sure that we cant stop all of the pulloting factors but we can at least reduce them ! but theres a thing that we should put in minds that we all can talk about saving the world , we can give sullotions write in forums ...bla bla bla ... its not that hard to talk !!! evrey body can do that i think

but who really goes outdoors and start what he`s talking about , who can set organized groups that its main goal is " saving our world" and really take a step in the world
i think there`s only a few of them dont you think so !?

one more thing ; i think that pple should work it out between them around the world cuz we are not saving a certian area we r trying to save the whole WORLD !

environment

i think most of us shud do our bit in preserving theenvironment. and all of it starts where we live. like in countries like india, the situation is terrible.
i am originally from bangalore, and the city council had started this garbage separation programme. after just 2 months, it was discontinued because the residents refused to cooperate. public apathy is really disgusting. all that was asked was that refuse of vegetable origin should be separated from , say plastic and other non or slow biodegradeable stuff. so its easy for the public, vegetable matter in one place and the rest whatever it may be in another place.
and in india, its so important for everyone to be aware of clean practices like this.
maybe some of you might have heard about the mumbai monsoon rains that have literally stopped the city. imagine the diseases that will be spread because of this flood situation, and the garbage mixed, and its like disaster.
prevention is what we can do.
are there any indians here on this forum who feel the same way.
i've decided to start vermicomposting and ask all the neighbourhood on my street to join in with their organic refuse.
i think we should all start small, and then veer towards the bigger issues.

I think people can make a difference. If we all do something, a big thing will happen. What we really need is a mass shift in general societal attitude towards the world we live in.

The environment should be clean and fit for living organisms existence...but where would the flies go? Ans: On other living organisms excreta. Good argument. So the bottomline is KEEP THE ENVIRONMENT CLEAN!
