I personally believe taht it is not unfair that there are not "much" female or women presidents as you can put it. This is a free world, women are aloowed to enter politics, stand as presidents and be either voted or not voted into office and since there have been several attempts by women for the top post, maybe i think it is only a matter of time and you are going to have a world concentrated by female presidents but as at the moment, i think that the world is not ready for more female presidents than there are today.
aluta continua.

It is definately unfair if there are no woman presidents. I believe in the saying that" train a woman, a nation trained".It implies that the nation is founded on woman. The strenght of any thing depends on its founddation, and in this case it is the woman.
What therefore is so special about presidency that a woman cannot handle? I strongly think that "un fair" is even an under estimatimation. It would be oppression of women, abuse of their rights and injustice if there are no woman presidents.

Hey Indonesian President, Megawati SoekarnoPutri, is a woman for God's sake..
yeah a lot of pro and contra but anyway she's the preident...we have to admit she's an admirable woman
i reckon sometimes it is right for woman not to held precidency....you know natural way of woman being created, their way of thinking emotionally and mentally..
however, i think before reach precidency stages, a woman should fill all the requirements and ready to face a strong and harsh politics that sometimes women cant take due to their emotional unstability

it is sad to see such sexism and ignorance on the TIG discussion boards. where has patriarchy got us?
war, poverty, starvation, and ecocide.
all brought to you by our male leaders! personally, i think that our whole political system is flawed. politicians represent the most powerful in society and the desicions that they make serve mostly to maintain their control. i don't want male presidents, i don't want female presidents (*cough* margeret thatcher *cough*), i dont want tranny or intersexed presidents. all i want is controll over my own life, and to live in a community where everyone's opinion is valued.
no more gods, no more masters.

Yes, it's right that female presidents have the right to elect themselves to be a president. But, what we should really think about is, will they rule the country right? Will they be able to handle situations and stay stable in facing country's problem?
such problem also occurs in male president, but the point is : Who have the charysma a lot more? i thikn, men are still the best president, even if some stage, women could also hold presidency. It depends, really...
i dont think that's a big deal - male or female -, but you know alot of aspects should be seen in the 1st place...

Corazon Aquino = *former* President of Philipines.
Margaret Thatcher = *former* Prime Minister of Britain.
Geraldine Ferarro (who?) = *former* US Presidential candidate circa 1984. OK, ok. She doesn't count.

i totally agree with Mohannad. i hope i live to see a woman president in the US. the us seems to be pretty behind in equality (among men and women) in politics. Sonia Ghandi was going to become the prime minister of india but chose to withdraw.

Ok, New Zealand doesn’t have a President, we have a Prime minister. But our Prime Minister, Helen Clark is a woman.
Of course we have religious nutters in our country who believe having a woman as our Prime minister is "the work of the devil." But that just highlights the sexism and close-minded thinking that prevails in many churches.
*QUOTE* (Originally posted by ChiLLiSauce) "But, what we should really think about is, will they rule the country right? Will they be able to handle situations and stay stable in facing country's problem?" To me, that is a highly stereotypical statement. It is lumping all women into one category. Of course some women are incapable of ruling a country, just as some men are.
I strongly believe that women should have every chance of their male counterparts to be elected into government. I also believe government should be a snapshot of the country they govern and represent… a mixture of races, religion a gender and not be predominantly conservative white males who are getting in years.
