[Poll] Religion In Movies
May 16, 2004 - 02:46 AM

Almost every religion in this world has been insulted at least one time in a movie. Christianity, Hinduism, Muslim and Buddhism are the main religions which are insulted, but I think that all the religions are not insulted because some of the religions are not that well known so people might also not know about those religions.
Do you think that every religion has been insulted at least one time in movies?
Do you think that every religion has been insulted at least once in movies?

Yes, most religion has been insulted once before. It seems to me that in movies, they have nothing to do but make fun of others especially religion because it seems to be easy. You could just mimick them and that's one insult.

Yes, I would agree with what you said about the main religions in this world being made fun of in movies while leaving out the religions that are basically not known. It does seem to be that this "joke" about religions in movies is focused primarily towards Christianity, Hinduism, Muslim, Buddhism and I would think the Jewish as well are involved. In my opinion, what I see the religion being made fun of the most is the Jewish. Take for example, by looking at the movie, The Passion Of The Christ. In this movie, it seems to be that the moviemakers are trying to send a message to the jewish people attempting to persuade them into changing their ways about themselves and becoming less violent. I have not seen this movie but I've heard of opinions from other people (if you've seen this movie, can you tell me what you think. This is just one of the many religions insulted in movies. Although the main religions as I'd mentioned above earlier are being insulted once in a while in movies, still though, the not so well known religions in this world like for example, Mormans, aren't being insulted in movies inflicting upon religion. Therefore, I will conclude by saying that because not every religion is insulted based on religon in movies, I would think that approximately 75% of religions are discriminated in movies.

I think many religions are discriminated against in movies. I agree that most are the Jewish. However, I don't think all religions are discriminated. Some religions that are not as known or religions that are evry different are being insulted. This is very bad. If people wanted to show religions in movies, they should show it in a good way not in a insulting way. Also yiu must have notied that a movie does not focuss on more than one religion. For example, if there are American-Africans, there are not a lot of other races. Multiculturism should be showed in movies too.

I think every religion I know has been insulted in many movies, not once but many times. I think the famous movie reviewers in the world should think twice about the movies which show insults of some religions.

I think that every religion has been insulted lots and lots of times in the movies. In some case, the actor may diss or insult a religion ad you wouldn't even know that it is a religion until later. For example in the movie "Gandhi" the people used to make fun of a Mahatma Ghandi's religion, they threw stones at him aznd stuff. So you see, every religion has been insulted lots of times in movies whether it be in English, Urdu, or Chinese, an insult is an insult.

Hey Khanjan, I think your partially correct. In some movies, the actors are actually trying to decrease the amount of racism in the movies. This is my opinion. I really think taht the actors these days, are promoting racism in the movies. On the other hand, some actors want to stop the racism in the movies.

Its kind of the same thing- almost all movies insult a religion or all most all religions are insulted in movies. Yes, I think almost all movies insult at least one religion. This is because they haven't got to know the religion. They insult the religion because they are different and people think other beliefs etc are funny and can turn into a great movie. However, I don't think all religions are insulted in movies. There are some religions that are not known very well. Also directors try to find a religion that is different from their religion and the one people don't know a lot about so they can make fun of the religion.

Hey Shreya,
I do not agree with you because I do not agree that almost all movies insult religions. I do not think that all movies insult religions. I think that only some movies insult religions. I have small list of movies that shows you that all movies do not insult religions. What I was saying is that " Almost All Religions Are Insulted By Movies," I did not say " Almost All Movies Insult All religions." Think about this, you will understand.I have a small list of movies here that do not insult religions. If you think this evidence is not enough then please feel free to tell me because I might be wrong and this might also help me.

I do and I don't. I don't think that EVERY religion has been insulted in EVERY movie. Yes. I agree that maybe one religion is insulted, but not every single one.

I have something to say people:
Movies insult religions also but sometimes they also show good things about religions. Movies not only insult religions, they show good things like unity among religions and the guts to do anything for their religion. So if you think of any movie that has good or bad things about a religion, please post a reply.

I just saw a Indian movie called Charas. In this movie there is a cop who has been given a mission. In that mision one of the terrorists escapes. The cop is a Muslim. Afterwards people start blaming the cop because he was a Muslim. Then the cop proves that he is not a traitor but he is a good citizen by risking his life to unreveal a big plot of Marijuana drug deal. Here also they have shown that Muslims are good.
