Religion in Shopping
May 10, 2004 - 11:24 AM

Why don't you see a lot of religious items in big malls? Why do you have to go to a place like Chinatown to buy an item related to Buddism? Shopping excludes a lot of religious perspectives. In shopping malls they only have the new trend clothing. Do you see clothing from religions? Not really, Right?

I think that we can't really find things that are religious in common places such as Town centre. It seems to me that you have to go to religious places in order to buy religious items. For example: my grandparents had to go to this store to help me buy a bible because I can't seem to find a bible in eaton centre or town centre.

Also not many stores with clothing of differnt religions are seen in malls. You have to go to special places to buy clothing from different religions. If Canada is called a multicultural country then there should be stores in malls that have multicultural clothing.

I agree with all of you. You don't get clothes and food of certain religions in malls. If you want to eat Asian food you have to go to Gerrad street and you cannot get food anywhere.
