Do you think that the females in most movies even in disney ones play usaully a recessive or a weak role, for example "the damsel in distress" or a house keeper? If you do tham could you give me some examples of some movies like that?

Well, I would have to disagree with you because nowadays movies and games have improved in terms of the sexism. There are more movies and games where a female takes on the main/important role.
Examples:resident evil code veronica X (game takes role as claire)
Movie:Kill bill V1 / V2

Well I think It comes down to that old adage of whether art imitates life or life imitates art.
If its the former, then art is merely reflecting one person's (the writer(s), director(s), etc) impression of life. If its the other way around, which I don't believe it is, then perhaps you have a point in saying that art can, at times, be sexist. I'd say (some) music videos would be an accurate portrayl of the latter issue.
But given that I believe art is what you take from the artists reflection, I think its up to you then to decide whether there is sexism being displayed at an unconscious level, or whether the story simply follows social convention in how it treats male and female characters.
That isn't to say some movies don't go against the trend as well - in fact they are the ones I like the most - but regardless, I think its mostly all in the eye of the beholder.
I *must* go see the latest Bertolucci (sp?) film.

I agree. In disney movies, women have less roles and if they do have roles,it's very low and not a high job, like queen.

Well, I guess it depends on the director and script writer. They want the women to play weak roles so the males can steal all the fame and be in the spotlight. It is true that females play weak roles, but movies are now improving female roles.

Im hate when movies are like that. In most disney movies a prince says a poor helpless princess. The girl is always huelpless left cleaning or cooking, and a prince comes along on his wonderful horse sword drawn to save her. Not all girls are helpless then can take care of thereselves.

I don't really think the "damsel in distress" thing really applies anymore. This may have been the case like 10 or 20 years ago, but nowadays, I see a lot of strong, independant female roles in movies.

sexism in movies

I think that the media is starting to improve when it comes to sexism in movies. When talking about Disney movies, like Cinderella, you have to consider the fact that they're not real movies and had been made long ago. At the same time, movies like Cinderella and Snow White are the type of movies children, especially little girls, grow up with and try to imitate when they are younger. They want to be the fairy princess who wears the crown and lives happily ever after with Prince Charming. Is that the image young girls should follow or want to grow up with? When will they step into the real world? Shouldn't movies try to portray stronger female role models? Though childern are very young when watching these types of movies, it can still effect how these children are raised and what they are brought up to believe in. Agree or Disagree?
