Toronto Initiative to unite Creativity Community
May 6, 2002 - 12:18 PM

I have been planning to start a local (personal/community) project in Toronto for the youth arts community (writers, musicians, artists, film makers, photographers, etc.). Details are under the http://projects.takingitglobal.org/projectview.html?ProjectID=98.

I'm seeking critique, comments, and perhaps local support from those that are in Toronto, and feel that they have some ideas that will help me plan and organize this project. My biggest difficulty at the moment is a lack of time due to other life commitments between school, family, and work (Don't we all have that dilemma?). I hope seeing other people's reaction to this will make me sacrifice some (more) sleep for this!

Thanks in advance.

This project is already beginning to pick up! TIG is filled with potential Torontonians that are in the community that I would like to 'unite', and they know what I'm talking about when I say that the potential of the group is limitless if only there was a way to gather everyone together.

I hope I'll have more than just posts and something concrete to show by the end of the summer. =)

Hello Benz, welcome to Taking IT Global (I see this is your post). smile

Well, I can't really answer your question because I am not in Canada at all (Im from Norway, currently living in Germany and will be moving to Hong Kong this summer, oh for some pictures I took in Hong Kong, go here:
http://www.dataport.no/~raymond/images/hk/

smile

But I can say that well, if there are any members from Vancouver, and I see that you are from there, then those members could help start something. It would require a lot, that is true, but the whole concept of TIG is to connect information and "know-how" so that things like creating such a project wouldn't seem That difficult to do.

good luck in any way, and hoping to hear more from you here on TIG smile

Basically its good to see such a big community in such a large organization. I also have my own organization which I want to encourage you to visit. YouthEcho.com

we have forums and more stuff coming soon. Please dont mind if some stuff isnt exactly "working" it will be up shortly. Thanks

oh for heaven's sake, let's quit the continued posting of advertising for your own website, eh? smile

if you really want to promote YouthEcho (a site which I have personally joined and have enjoyed some discussions at) here on TIG, I suggest you try the following methods:

On your profile page try write a bit about your vision for YE and what you want to achieve with it. For instance, I notice that most of the members are from New York, perhaps this is a way in which YE could be a way of "taking it local" in NY and you could focus on getting local press/PR in NY, thus taking it further there. Just an idea .. smile

Write updates where you share with others some of your experiences from the YE project. How is it working out, what experiences have you won on the PR area, site development, etc..

smile

just posting semi-spam messages on the boards here only helps to piss Me off at least. (i don't know about others) smile what you Could do is to refer to discussions at YE - for instance the ( http://www.youthecho.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34 )War Against Terrorism thread which could well be linked with some of the threads here on TIG.

By referring to Content (and not just the concept) you will spark interest in a far more efficient way.
