I think racism on T.V is bad because it shows the viewers that watch the program that it is okay to discriminate agaainst people because they are of a different race than you are.

Yes, I think there are problems in t.v because if you were to watch a show, the majority of the show is white or black. There isn't an equal balance. For example: fresh prince of bel air. There are barely any white people in it.

racism in tv

I think racism in tv can be a problem. In television, and various other works of media, there is a lot of racial stereotyping. For example, in sports, more white people play hockey than black people, and in commercials, there are a lot of white people. It is noticeable, that in many commercials, we don't see much diversity. I don't really see much Asians on Canadian (or American)commercials. One thing though, is that many of our tv shows and commercials are American-based. There is a Chinese channel, but there is barely any diversity (all I see are Chinese people). To encourage diversity, I think shows, and commercials should have more diversity.

Yes,I think it is a problem because movies like "LIKE MIKE" and other movies for children have MOST characters with people who are black Americans (though some are whites).
while other movies have people who are white. Therefore most movies are one sided according to races.

I have also noticed that all races of people are never included in one show. Either most people in a show are white or black. The maximum is when there are both white and blacks ( very rare). I think if Canada is a multicultural country, then they should show that in tv shows too. Children watch tv and learn from it. If they see that shows only contain one race of people then they will think they can only hang out with one kind of people. For example if a boy who is hite watches shows that have only white characters, he can start hanging out with only white people and not mix with other cultures and races. Multiculturism should be protrayed in tv too.

yes i think racism is a problem on tv because kids and children , when they see movies that have people who are like totally the other race , they feel outcasted and discriminated.

Racism in T.V. is mostly in shows. A serial has only white people like Everbody Likes Raymond and some shows have only back people like The Cosby Show. Only 25% os T.V. shows have people from different races.

From my opinion I think it is a problem if some people take it seriously. For example, the Simpsons, they may be racist, but I don't think they mean it because the Simpson is like mainly full of jokes and stuff. So for me it isn't a problem.

I think that there is a problem with racism on tv. But I also think that it is not very severe. I think that it has changed a lot since the past.

Lets take The Simpsons as an example. There are characters of different races in there which shows unity among the characters but sometimes Homer Simpson is poking fun at the people of the different races which is bad. So, I think that Racism in T.V. is a problem also and not a problem also.
