Hi Gabilan,
my name is Sadman. I think the reason for taxi drivers in movies to have funny accents and turbans is because they are racist. They think only Indian, Pakistani, Bengali etc. people usually drive taxi's and no African or Canadian people drive taxi's.

Hi,
This is Annika. I think you are right that movies are racist. Movies are giving images in our society for certain types of people which is not true. I was wondering if you can gibe me some feedbacks and suggestion about racism in movies. I am also doing a project on racism in movies. So i would appreciate if you can help me.

Hi,
that is very true. I agree Gablian. All the time in movies taxi drivers with funny accents and turbans appear. That is very racist. However, they might also put taxi drivers with funny accents and turbans because, they want to make the movie funny. Just like Blink2012 said.

Yes, when movies do this it is very racist.This also gives a bad reputation for Canadians or Americans or any other culture that are not shown as cab drivers. That makes us all seem very racist.I have seen many people of different heritage driving taxis but not in movies. I think basically , if they can't be fair then they shouldn't use cab drivers in their movies at all.

I think that you are right about the accents of the taxi drivers. But you are also wrong because in some cases, people speak like normal people.

Mostly Indian movies show this kind of racist stuff. Just like Sadman said, they are racist. They may think that only Indians, Pakistanis & Bangladeshis can only become taxi drivers. You must check out some Indian movies as they still show racism in movies even more than the Americans do.

I REALLY DONT NO WHY TAXI DRIVERS IN MOVIES WEAR TURBANS AND HAVE ACCENTS BUT I THINK THEY DO THAT BECAUSE THEY WANT THE MOVIE TO BE MORE FUNNY OR THEY WANT THAT SCENE TO STAND OUT. THATS MY OPINION GABILAN!!!!!!

Hi!
I think they have turban and funny accents because maybe it's like a sign, mostly they come in when the main character is in trouble or needy. So they are their so increase the suspense, catch people's attention, and make themselves stand out. To me they aren't racist infact I like them.

That is true there is alot of racism in movies like the taxi drivers I dont think they shoukld do that but I know they are just trying to make people luagh, and you got to admit it is funny.

I believe that taxi drivers wear turban and have a funny accent is purely for the comdey element of the film. However, this is also racism because we have become accustomed to this stereotype and our ignorance & prejudice causes us to think that the taxi driver with a turban and funny accent is actually funny, but in reality, it is an act of discrimination.

Hey gabby. i have an example for you. i was watching this movie, well basically it was indian movie and the people in that movie had accents so they dabbed their voices and made it proper english, so basically i think thats racist. Why did they dab there voices, just because they have accents. So thats kind of an example. If you need more suggestion, u could ask.
