What is relgion coming to?

Hello everyone, Im quite new to TIG, and this is my first time starting an actual thread. Anyway, religion is always a delicate and passionate topic, and I hope this topic does not start up any ill will or animosity among any of you. If possible, please try to keep any angry or hateful statements to yourself! Many say that religion is an obstruction of the truth, being that religion is an human/cultural construct, many times used to control others through rites/rituals, faith, etc., while truth is inherent/part of nature/man; in other words, truth is natural, inherent to all...inherently common and natural to all; religion on the other hand is a vehicle for understanding this"truth", but it is not "truth" itself. Today, religion can be seen as a vehicle for horrible actions - not as a ways to understanding the truth pertaining to ones self. A religion stating "there is only one God, "MY God", and only "MY God"", may automatically neglect the universality of this understanding of "truth", and thus have full right to commit any act because his/her God (often through human manipulation) told him/her to do so, or the action was commited as a matter of "faith". Here, we see how religion, through human manipulation, can control others...this can happen on a much smaller scale also. Religion can develop also sorts of unknown prejudices, or pleasures, without one ever taking notice...it is open to all sorts of human power through human manipulation. With that said, for those involved in a certain religion, what do you feel towards the idea of a universal "truth", and what the future holds for religion? Can there be a peaceful future with religion? Is religion obscuring peace? Please, understand I am not trying to disprove any one reliigion; I am merely hoping that one can look at ones own religion in more of an objective manner in relation to peace. Through TIG, I hope this discussion can be conducted in a sincere and peaceful manner...thankyou

We could all get along, if we could just ignore one another from time to time. And not letting it to affect us daily.

"I hope this discussion can be conducted in a sincere and peaceful manner" This statement is very important. I applaud your desire to tackle such a complex subject with peaceful intentions.
"Can there be a peaceful future with religion?" I certainly hope so. This is something I have been praying for. I am Christian. This is the issue we need to be talking about because there is way too much religious fueled violence in the world today. I realize that people are the one's that interpret (or misinterpret) almost all religions for their own political or financial purposes. Peace seems to be the core of all religions and I ask all of you to focus on that instead of our human interpretations.

Ignoring people from time to time, that would prove to be such a great digression to peace, and destructive to humanity! We learn the most from observing life; life is the most accurate source of information pertaining to life, it must be learned from and observed...it is quite a simple paradox. Ignoring each other would be a step in the opposite direction of progress, naturally. Disagreeemnts about views upon life, or any disagreements between people for that matter, are wonderful opportunities! If approached with humble/peaceful intentions, totally and completely surrendering ones self with no trace of ego, they are a tremendoues source for progress of peace in life, and must not be ignored.

Actually i am repeatedly giving out statements people need to recognize reality and build from reality on.
I personally admire everybody which is focused and calm and is fulfilling his work well. I fulfill my work well and i dont harm anybody at it intentionally. I would love to learn more meditation techniques, as my EQ is low and especially i lack FOCUSing.

Bravo, Kaiser! Im glad we have made it this far! Thankyou for your interest in this subject. You stated you don not understand, and you would not accept; that is the whole point here...that is the most common response to this issue. The point is that there are no real solutions to these issues through discursive thought/action...real solutions are established through a tremendous transformation of the mind, a "great leap", you might say. I am not stating you should sit and watch violence take place, no not at all! Yes, every one can strike back, but why strike in the first place?! Truth, peace, can not be obtained through discursive thought. It can not, its is nature. You may be asking how, then? Meditation Through meditation, one fully can understand fully and respond with the precise amount of energy to all issues, includng violence and hatred. When I say "accepting", I do not mean blindly accepting and then ignoring a subject, such as violence or hatred.. I mean, fully understanding these issues and responding to them with the precise amount of energy.... I dont know...maybe I shouldnt be tlaking about this...hmm..

Hello Kaiser. Im not trying to be optimistic at all; I am very familiar with violence and hatred, reality, and never try to run away from it...I live and deal with hatred on a daily basis (although this is quite irrelevent to go into detail here). If reality is explored deeper, one realizes these truths regarding reality, the truths of violence, hate, suffering; it is not thinking optimistically, it is opening yourself completely to reality, surrendering yourself completely, without looking for any outcomes. Violence is then violence, hate is then hate, you are completely open to everything they have to offer, every unpleasant, harsh experience they have to offer....confidently. Yes, violence as you stated before...this is reality. There are so many saddening, upsetting acts of violence and hatred in this world today, so many. It is good to become upset, frustrated, to feel the complete, utter sadness of this reality...if one goes one step further, there is complete, utter beauty and happiness in feeling the suffering of all beings, realizing this suffering. It may seem impossible to ease all beings suffering, but we can try...and thats all that really matters.

I usually enderstand things good, but what you wrote i do not understand.
Should i accept some violent ways? No i wont. Cannot.
Choices are our to make. Even at making violent acts. Choose not to do it and it will be ok. (Everybody can strike back - so keep that in mind)
