Hi, my name is Balkiss.
Its so wonderful to be a member of TIG. I am going to discuss a project I am on with u and I hope that by the time you've read through, you will find it interesting enough to communicate with me on issues surrounding it.
My project is a league that is bringing together talented youth in the fashion and artistic line under an association which is tagged DESIGNERS LEAGUE.
Designers league is a league of fashion and artistic designers in Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. The league encompasses all other universities in and around the country. Youth clothiers, costumiers, milliners, cosmetologists, shirtmakers, jewellers, footwear builders, hair stylists, and so on, will form the members of the designers league. Most of these youth will be represented as students of higher institutions and colleges. A quarterly exhibition and fashion show will be staged in various universities and cultural centers locally and internationally. A website will be launched for the simple purpose of awareness and buying and selling while a center will be erected as a designers village in a major city in the country to serve as a base and offices that will be enhanced to attract tourism. Designers league will be 100% youth participatory as it will put up only youth for membership.
Goals:
To bring out the special talents in youth and occupy them into doing what is worthwhile. To create a level playing ground for the members to face as an equal other youth anywhere in the world in competitions. To recreate the fashion trend in the world of youth and to bring together the social conciousness of youth in diaspora. To create a forum for workmanship and togetherness.
