Tigers; the hunter hunted almost to extinction

WWF, the conservation organization, has released a startling new report which shows that Indonesia is set to lose its last-remaining tiger species — the Sumatran tiger - if the widespread illegal trade in tiger parts and rampant habitat loss is not stopped.

There are only around 5000-7000 in the whole world, not to mention a species in Indonesia. It is essential that we deliver this message to everyone, and WWF is already a part of that, but no matter how much you tell people how critical the situation of extinction is, some seriously don't care. That's the problem, that's why we still have poaching around. The extinction of a species mean nothing to them, as long as they get a load of money for their furs. They don't care what impact it'll have on them in the future. The society needs to do more than just tell people of the affect it'll have on the environment, since we already have enough of that, but convince the government that we need stricter punishment for those who choose to ignore the law on poaching. Penalties should not only be given to those who hunt, but to those who buy as well. If people no longer purchase products made from tiger pelts, then hopefully the poachers see no point in hunting them. Hopefully the more severe punishment would discourage poaching as a sport as well.

Deliberate human slaughter is seen as murder, why should intentional killing of an animal (an innocent) be seen as any different?
