Starting an NGO

Has anyone out there started their own NGO? Have you taken an idea, built up the idea, gotten volunteers, networked, fundraised, publicized, legitimized, actualized and MADE SOMETHING HAPPEN?
If you have, I am very interested to hear your story... This can be anything from a soup-kitchen to a after-school club.
What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered? Who was the biggest "surprise helper"? What was the biggest frustration? the biggest satisfaction?
How far do you think you can go with it? How far do you plan to go with it?
I'm in the process of pushing off a project called RESPECT. I am very interested to hear your stories!
Be well,
Marc

Hey Marc
Click on About us at the end of the page. There u gotta have a Fantastic story !!
RESPECT seems to have quite interesting projects.. building youth NGo profiles sounds cool.
Another suggestion : come to that conference homepage NGo summit.. u will find bunches of Youth NGos there !!
Write more about this and other projects u have here! we'd love to know more about ur interesting activities.
Cheers!!
