Yes he believed in non-violence and never missed an opportunity to express his beliefs. Here is another of his quote:
"Whenever you are confronted with an opponent. Conquer him with love."

and how do you plan on conquering the opponent with love if they are forexample serial killers or suicide bombers?

Yes love is the greatest weapon on earth, we could not allow ourselves to retaliate with any type of violence, but to confront the problem with love. It is effective in that it has a way of disarming the opponent, it exposes his moral defences, it weakens his morale and at the same time it works on his conscience. Hate is always tragic, it is as injurious to the hater as it is to the hated. we should love.
