In Africa mostly by education and economical pressure. And logic: Half of society must be equal to another part in order all to be ok.
As for moslim countries:
Only religous reform or organized conversions to another religions unless given rights.

Starting from the grassroots to educate women on their rights. Also by educating the young and growing ladies, by this means a more powerful impact would be made.

You need to emphasise national need for overall progress, including women.
Make it as "necessary" thing.

It is... as outlined in the UN's millenium development goals. We need to increase foreign aid to places like sub-saharan africa so that they can fix the bigger things first. It's hard to eliminate disparity if there are even bigger problems... like poverty, malnutrition,etc... but yeah... just what i think.

I ment it in an national thing:
Nation, community needs total support by all sides, one of sides is a womans side. Lets empower women to make that side stronger and as a result we gain a strong, prosperous community.
THATS MOTIVATION!
Everybody should speak such words and push them inside mind of people. Especially those which have ability to put thoughts in peoples mind. These are clerics and community leaders.

l think women should try to take education as their primary goal in life.the few educated ones should reach the rural world and inject the spirit of education.thats is the only medium where they can gain some equality with men especially in Africa.
again women should not be fighting of a 50% to 50% equality with men for they will never achieve that.rather they should think how their position in gender can be improve to measure up with men to some degree.
