February 26, 2004 - 07:56 AM

Hi,
I'm a 15-year-old girl living in the states and I need some help from all the teens on here. I'm writing a book ona girl who goes on a studying abroad thingy and she meets a boy there and I'm sure you can guess the rest. Well anyway I've never been to the UK before and so I don't know what its like so I was wondering if you could tell me about things you guys do for fun, where you hang out, stuff like that. I really appriciate whatever you can give me! Thanx alot!
Luv,
Me

on writing a book
March 1, 2004 - 08:16 AM

hi, i suggest that if you like to write a book make the setting of the story in the places you've been already. In that way, your story will be more reliable or If you really wnat to make UK as the setting, then go first to UK. live there for some time. That's what most writers do. smile good luck!!!

Yes I could do that but... I've tried setting it here and it doesn't work I mean the beginning and ending all take palce here but the middle part doesn't and its either the UK or France and since I've never been to either place and I kind of wanted it to be in Enligh the UK won. I'd just like to know what you guys do over there. Who you the cutest actor (girl or guy) is. How old you are when you start dating. What your friends are like. What you do for fun. Stuff like that. I didn't think I was asking to much but I guess I can just try to look it up on the internet and if I get something wrong oh well I guess. Thanx anyways!

hi american girl, i don't live in UK, but I am a writer. I think at this moment you should change some part of the story. Changing is part of writing process--the process of creating story. sometimes, you are so attached to the plot, to the setting--but you should let it go to make your story better--it's very hard to imagine, to get ideas from the internet of the UK's lifestyle or Of asking only few people, without letting you--yourself-experience it. it's very difficult.

I have not yet read your story but it seems a lot of details are needed about the lives of boys in UK. that's all for now.

your older sister,

biodiversity

Hey a soft ending sound really good basically I was thinking the plot of my story is a normal everyday girl goes on a studing abroad system in the UK and their she meets a boy hence the refferences to boys alot and well she thinks she likes him and then somehting happens to bring her the knowledge that he's a dick and she goes home and realizes that's she been in love with her best guy friend the entire time. Should I end it that her friend doesn't like her that he just wants to be friends? This is my first time writing a book and I need lotz of help! Please help me!
Thank You!
Luv,
Kari

i can help
March 24, 2004 - 12:39 PM

hi kari
i go to school in the UK.
i came from an african country and my dad and i kinda weighed the pros and cons of going to school in teh UK and US,and the UK won with the most positives,so i was sent here
education in the UK i think its kinda like yours in america although we dont maybe have the elementary school,( i think)and our order is probaby different from yours,i guess
my school has got a prep school and senior school
most kids i know in the senior school, just advanced from the prep school.
so its like,pre-prep,then prep school, and you join the senior school in year 9 until year 13.
am in year 13,at the end of year 13,you sit your A level exmas in 4 or 3 subjects, then you go on to the university, which starts about september-october depending on your course.
there are private and public schools.
my school is an independent school, and methodist too.you can board or be a day pupil coming from home,or you can be a weekly boarder,so that you go home on the friday
i dont know much about what teens in the US do?
you go to the mall, and movies and stuff, right?
i think its basically the same here.our malls are shopping centres, and we go to the cinema over the weekend like you, or go clubbing.
i dont quite know about minority group concentration, you know like, where blacks or hispanics are most concentrated.
i know its the south in America, but its not the same here
they are mixed race people i think everywhere
i'll be glad to help you with your book if you need any help in setting, or language, background, directions or the like
you just HOLLA BABE,okay?smilesmilesmile)smilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmilesmile

Thanx so much that's such a big help!! I wondering if you could tell me what girls over there think makes a guy cute. And if you have a boyfriend or guy you like what does he look like? And to clear things up minoity groups aren't all in the south there's tonz of people like that in the north, south, east, & west. And our school's go like this both public and privat, Elementary School (1-6) sometimes (1-5), Middle or Jr. High School (7-9) Sometimes (6-9), High school (10-12) sometimes (9-12). Your a peach for helping me thanx alot!
Luv,
Kari Ann
