Hey Pred.. sorry but seem like i got no idea.
Anyway honestly this type of message/annoucement i read a lot on media everywhere, loz of VIPs
love to speak those big words... and many of them are sort of NATo( No action Talk only)...
I appreciate your passion, inspirations.
But you start a movement blablbla sounds so big and not specific.
Belief in power of dreams, power of change.Thaz greatt! but not enough..
I got something interesting from Sandy Axon in OZ . She sai d:
HOW FAR AWAY IS CHANGE
People wish
People dream
People think
people talk
But do these things alone can change any closer?
*** WHEN PEOPLE WRITE DOWN WHAT THEY WISH
WHEN PEOPLE DREAM UP A PLAN
WHEN PEOPLE THINK ABOUT HOW TO DO IT
WHEN PEOPLE TALK WHILE WORKING
THEN CHANGE IS NEAR AT HAND..
Make a movement means you challenge yourself to create changes. SO i dont have loz of ideas to
answer your ques. But i would suggest you start a movement then write down what must be
changes, plan some actions how you create those changes, and creat the change u wanna see!
Movement needs people's involment .So it means you need to inspire people.Action always generates
inspirations.Probabaly itz the way?
hmm.. have no more thoughts now guess..
Cheers!
Lan Anh

I know you've read this a thousand times.
Here's once more.
It starts with YOU.
It really does!
If you try to make changes on an individual level..that's one more person out there.
It beats indifference all the way!
Feel like you're doing something (because you are), and soon you will find you are/have.

Karis.
Interesting.
I was hoping id actually get peoples ideas on how to tackel issues, like - if they were starting up
what i was doing - how'd they'd go about, for exmaple, stopping whaling.
Bad choice of topic - but it was a start.
Ideas?

I think what you are talking about
Mar 23, 2002
|

Is sustainablility of natural resources and the protection of the natural environment. A possible
initiative could be to contact local wildlife protection organizations or natural preservation
societies. These organizations have several initiatives and are always in dire need of volunteers.
What you might also want to do is work in collaboration with TakingITGlobal.
If an organization that works in sustainability and TIG accumulated their resources, there could be
some promising developments. The first step would be to scout out organizations. I guess you could
do that using the TIG organizations database. Then you could possibly survey civilians of your area
as to the problems in society that concern them. The third step would be to inspire, inform, and
involve. Start a petition to stop forestry companies or something to that effect, generate
awareness of the issue and what the effects of those acts such as whalling as you mentioned would
have on the future of society. Here is an idea: list someo f the problems you would like taken care
of yourself, and we can further brainstorm possible solutions.

many people doing many pieces

Also, do not try to do everything immediately. World peace yesterday will get laughter, but getting
a certain piece of wetlands protected may work. If you get people to work on small achievable
goals, you will see larger effects. Get Terri's "tipping point" working for you.

some of the issues i wanted to start out with; that is, to enter into the website im starting to
make.
Sort of like an agenda.
1) Globalisation - Free Trade - etc
2) Energy
3) 3rd World Debt
4) The increasing spread between poverty and wealth.
5) global approaches in tackling environmental degradation (global and local ecologies)
6) Long-term approaches to solving short-term problems (esp. in the global arena)
7) Youth Apathy.
Enjoy!
note: they are only some of the issues. And theres always room for input from you folks.

a good project would be to see to it that the kids in your neghbourhood have a school to go to.
if there are enough schools and kids are going there, then maybe you should start with things like
family values and educate them how much their parents do for them and then maybe into community
living.
something like globalization and increasing divide between the rich and poor arent good topics to
take up with kids.
if they arent kids, something like 15 - 20 age group, just get together and have fun. people that
age arent intrested in listening to lectures.

Refugee Education Sponsorship Program: Enhancing Communities Together
Mar 31, 2002
|
|
Dear Ideas,
It is extremely important to be sure that every child in our neighborhood has a school to go to, so
that they are able to learn about the world and "discover the folly of war". But is also of extreme
importance for us to help young people in war-torn coutries to have a school for every young person
to go to. A school where every child can learn and grow, where they can have a notebook to write
their very own name on and so forth..
This is the idea behind the RESPECT program -- students here helping refugee students there!
RESPECT is a program developed by "Winnipeg Refugee Education Network -- a group of concerned
volunteers, from high school students to high school teachers and beyond.
I would really love to hear your feedback on this idea -- would it be implementable in your
communities? Why? Why not?
And also, if you have any comments, suggestions -- or if you would like to get involved -- do not
hesitate to get in touch with me!
I'll post some information here -- please check out our website for more information!

Be well,

Refugee Education Sponsorship Program:
Enhancing Communities Together
RESPECT
Why:
RESPECT's mission is to raise awareness among Canadian young people about refugees and refugee
issues, encouraging activism among Canadian youth and further empowering refugee children and
communities through the donation and transport of education-related material aid.
How:
RESPECT is working towards improving the quality of life and future potential for refugee children
caught in conflict by helping to outfit schools in refugee communities with proper teaching and
learning supplies. We are doing this by introducing educational communities here in Winnipeg with
refugee schools in need.
Schools, clubs, and other groups of young people will be assigned a refugee school to sponsor.
Then, with the support of RESPECT, students will work to put together an aid package or shipment to
be sent directly to the refugee camp. As much as possible, it is hoped individual sponsors will
work to fund-raise in order to send their aid shipment to the camp. Again, RESPECT will help with
all particulars of transport.
