Save Homeland? Refoulement

To everybody,
Right now the Dutch government is thinking of sending 26.000 asylumseeker/refugees back to their countries of origin.
One part of the controversity surrounding the issue is that nobody is certain of the faith that will befall these people on their return. The government is even thinking of sending them to just any country with a laissez passez. And before that time even kids will be put in jail, in violation with the charter on kids rights.
Half the country is logged in civil disobedience over this issue. One man from Iran even sewed his mouth and eyes together and started a hungerstrike.
Upon their return people are not monitored and might end up in incarceration. The issue is that all we know comes from HRW; reports are ignored by the government. The countries as far as I know:Sierra Leone, Liberia, Congo,Burundi, Sudan, Ethiopie, Somalie,Iran, Irak, Afghanistan, China, Armeninians from Azerbaidzjan. Bosnie and people from the Stari Most list (Srebrenica).
Please any credible information is welcome as are your views on this topic.
If enough information comes in, it can be used by our actiongroups to get monitoring established.

Im not very knowlegeable on this issue but it seems grave that one problem concerning refugees came back screaming at me. It was the case of Iraqis and Afghans who were seeking refuge in Australia in 2001 but were refused entry because of the Temporary Protection Visa Law endorsed by the Howard government. Australia was one of the active promoters of the UN COnvention relating to the Status of Refugees and with the present case in Australia, Howard certainly is sending us mixed signals.
Is the Dutch government a supporter of the UNHCR? Even if that's the case, it would still remain quite a dodgy position, but it's good to know that you have a starting point of attack.

thanks for your reaction,
well we used to, but worse, the High Commisioner of the UNHCR is our former MP Ruud Lubbers.(not a happy man at the moment)And it begs the question wether the UN has lost to much credibility and pouch.
It is ear reddening given that Holland will take up position in the committee on humanright of the UN.
But in line with the fight on terror, and fortress Europe.
To make up for it:A Dutch bellringer posted an article on the situation of the refugees on Naurau, and the questionable code of silence of the IOM. I'll give you a link: http://www.amnesty.nl
De klokkenluider van Naurau. I am almost certain that their must be an equivalent or translation in Englisch.
So anybody interested, might use this as a reference.
