The Muslim scholar’s opinion regarding shape of earth
February 5, 2004 - 05:23 AM

|
The answer that I frequently receive from Muslims on
this board regarding my questions is: “Do not ask us,
go and ask the scholars!”
It seems a fair answer because everybody has not a
good knowledge of Quran and Hadith.
Now let us see the opinion of a famous high ranking
Muslim scholar about the shape of Earth based on
Quran.
At first the verse from Quran:
Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?
088.020
YUSUFALI: And at the Earth, how it is spread out?
PICKTHAL: And the earth, how it is spread?
SHAKIR: And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse?
And what is the scholar opinion the late Sheikh Abdel
Aziz Ibn Baaz the GRAND MUFTI of Islam in Saudi Arabia
about the above verse?
He issued the following fatwa in the year 1993--just
10 years ago:
Quote:
"The earth is flat, and anyone who disputes this claim
is an atheist who deserves to be punished."
You may find more about this fatwa by searching
Google. Just enter his name and search! You will get a
lot of links! (Incase you are ready to say I am
lying!!)
http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=Abdel+Aziz+Ibn+Baaz+earth&spell=1
Should I ask the scholars any more?!!!! Who guarantees
the scholar that I am going to ask my questions and
then blindly accept what he tells me is not that smart
that in 20th century (just a few years ago!!!)
still believes earth is flat. And obviously has a
higher rank than supreme authority on Islam in the
land of the prophet Mohammed!
Still I believe we have brain, let us use our own.
I will ask my questions from anybody who does not
follow a faith blindly hoping to receive a fair answer
to my questions.
Thank you

COMMON COMMANDS IN THE MMONOTHEISTIC FRAMEWORK, AN OPTION FOR ONE AND ALL GLOBALLY

Dear XYZ,
Greetings for peace,
I will be grateful if you could examine more the models of global goverance. Not all the messnegers has been reported in the Qur'an. An opionion is an opinion..There are many other facts about the movement of cosmic bodies such as Moon and Sun that has been indicated.I need to have more reading of Qur'an. The verse cited in your post is a indication for the sign of God..There are many other signs that has been communicated for the believer and the people who are wise..
I am writing against the impact of judgement of priests for Galileo and Bruno as reams has been written against the commands of God/Allah/Elahom/../../
Kindly consider the common denominators of abidance rather than becoming just another communicator in the group of writers who have driven people out of the churches and synagogues and pushed them in the dancing halls and bars.
I have been writing against men and women who in their ignorance have denounced irreverently all the commands. There are common commands for prayer and tithes/zakat/dhrmada ( payments made out of the sustenance provided by allah for the welfare of those who have been provided less. There is a common command agianst usury that needs to be abided for solving a lot of problems. Forum for Stable Currency http://intraforum.net/money is one such forum calling for the creation of money by public institutions ..There is a movement for getting rid of usurious finance system.. There is need to understand this common that had been suggested after the fall of Muslim government in Spain (The Hindu, 4 February 2004).
I find a grant opportunity for Muslims, Christians ,Jews and Hindus to unite on this globally.
I have respect for your probe in the truthfullness of revelations but then I suggest not to get led on the path of atheists. We have been provided intelligence to know some but then Allah know the best.
With prayers for continues guidance of Allah for all of us
mukhtar

astronaut

Well there is a new voice of tolerance coming from the Arab world, equal mariage right, the right to go to school after mariage and fair treatment of children, are noises heard from Yemen.
Human rights are like art and poetry appreciation an acquired taste, and need to be developed.
Also wahabism preaches a new tolerance: when unbelievers do not (that includes suni and shi'i)harm your religion or drive you from your home, it is just to be fair in dealings with these unbelievers (TIME september 15, 2003)for Allah loves the just.
With the flat earth statement we would be in trouble regardless.
But there is nothing better than practical realism, and nationalistic pride in accomplishment, when it comes to dealing with the notion of the flat earth.
So when the first S.A. astronaut went up, the earth became round really fast, but the solarsystem still revolves around a centred earth.
So the next best step to enlightenment,
would be to go interstellar.
Take care.
