DIPLOMACY AND WORLD PEACE

We would all want to see an end to all wars, conflicts, terrorism etc. Many feel that if only world leaders would simply work together, wars would cease to exist. Most people feel disappointed with the results of diplomacy. For ages, diplomats have ratified treaties, attended conventions and summits, formulated resolutions but very few issues have been permanently resolved. Some people feel that diplomacy has even failed completely but I don't believe so. Diplomacy may not have been a complete success but it's not a complete failure either. I believe so much in diplomacy. I am a fan of diplomacy
A few reasons why it appears that diplomacy doesn't work is because in diplomacy there is the "you can't win all nor lose all" syndrome. Most times people involved in conflicts tend to want to have all their demands achieved. This is always an almost impossible scenario in diplomacy or conflict resolution after all nobody likes to loose. Actually, diplomacy cannot bring about total agreement on issues before it. If parties are in conflict and diplomats are at work to resolve the issue and they fail woefully or completely then all they had been doing was just "jaw jaw"; but if it turned out that all the parties had their conditions and demands met, that means the diplomats worked out a miracle; but again on the other hand if the parties involved had to settle for a little less than their expectations or demands that means diplomacy was involved
We all shouldn't give up easily on diplomacy, we should not only look at what it ought to have achieved if it does not; we should also look at what it had achieved if nothing had been done. In other words diplomacy may not have ended all the wars, conflicts, clashes and fights in the world but it sure has prevented world war III

I think diplomacy is like a good fight, if taken good:
-------------------------------------------------------
To make sure both parties make eachothers needs fulfilled.

It's not just the leaders that need to work together, it is also the people. Look at terrorists for example: They don't abide by the rules of the government and the leaders of their country have a hard time stopping these horrible people and they are so sneaky and nearly impossible to catch.
Also there is an issue with the leaders, they have to cooperate and be honest with eachother. Another example that comes to mind is the US realtions with N. Korea. They say they are building Nuclear bombs and say they will stop if we do this and that. And then they say they've stopped building these weapons but they still ARE building the weapons.
But I agree we shouldn't give up on democracy it's a relatively new form of government if you look back in history. And it takes time to work out the problems but I believe it can happen. It's mission impossible but if you think positively nothing is impossible.

Ehh democracy is not all that good.
It only represents the will of all people.
As you probably learned, people are mostly NOT good, and are not really up for any change. They have referandums, with which they can vote on destiny of this or that human right. Usually how to take rights of people away.
Imagine having the referendum in Saudi Arabia if they should put homosexuals on gallows? How would the vote go?
It is the long time of liberal thinking and nstional sentiment that keeps country going forward, democracy is only the tool for better effect.
If you expect good things from people in democracy just coz there is a democracy, hen i must say your being foolishly idealistic. You can have educated and freethinking people in any form government, but in most they arent allowed to participate in decisions.
But if there is a good, freedom oriented "dictator" in place, he can do a damn lot more than lets say president in democracy, where he must follow not too progressive public opinion.
Bush last year signed few papers prohibiting abortion. This will make some women living very difficult, since his sort of law is same for all, but every person is in fact world for himself. You have dictatorships which r more tolerant than this. hope u understand how things work out now.

Diplomacy officially represents the will of the government.
But can be compared to two woman drinking tea and making nice small talk in the backyard and solving the issue, while their husbands slug it out on the porch. Well mostly it's like that.
The conveyers of messages and entry ticket.
Without it there would probably be a lot more misunderstandings and a lot less arm wrenching.
Everythings allowed to prevent conflict or to gain economic advantage.
Would a world ambassador be an idea.
take me to your leader...
