Corruption in South Africa

We need input, people!
We are Dutch students doing a research project on corruption in South Africa and need your opinions on the matter. Specifically; How bad is it? What is being done? Is it effective? Is it improving or worsening?
Anything is helpful, thanx!

Corrution in SA is there and the government is doing it's bit in fighting it.
We've the Scorpions under the National Prosecuting Authority tasked with cracking down on corruption.High profile fraud cases are handled by the scorpions which has highly trained personnel.

Firstly let me wish you all the best for your research project.
Perhaps you would like to conduct your own investigation into fraudulent activity in South Africa so that you can decide for yourselves?
Maybe you will discover that fancy websites are useless when the ordinary South African citizen tries to fight against corruption.
Is cybernation's answer nothing more that a bit of damage control, or does it reflect the opinion of a person who has actively tried to fight for justice?
It was corruption and the frustration of receiving ZERO assistance from the very public bodies to whom my taxes were being paid, that finally made me decide to seek a future elsewhere.

Corruption in south africa is indeed a serious problem but
i do not think that it is at the extreme compared to our african states. The government is dealing with the problem but what about the corruption at the top level of high ranking government officials. For example huge government tenders are not just given to any one. If you don't know any one within the system forget it. Even though correct procedures are followed, but same people get huge tender contracts time and again and they become millionares in few months.Black economic empowerment is another area that needs to be questioned because all the business deals that are geared towards uplifting black people only endup in the hands of a few minority by means of corruption and politics of patronage.

Corruption is there I agree. But so many govt officials are involved in those scandals particularly the Eastern Cape. This is one of the poorest provinces in SA and its shocking to see the misuse of funds especially the old age grant. So many people are not working, not because they do not want to but because there are no jobs, so do we really need corrupt officials in this province? or do we need an improved service delivery? Or we want Scorpions coming in day in and day out looking for theives?
For this country to develop, it has to wipe out corruption and Africa as a continent is faced with this challenge. the case of a top Zimbabwean official building a million rand mansion in Cape Town whilst people do not have basic needs how careless can other people be.
Also we have a tendency of investing huge amounts of money in other countries like having a house in Norway, Switzerland, USA and UK.
