Improving your Mental Game in Tennis
May 8, 2014

Hi I am a Girl Scout from California United States and I am finishing my Gold Project to help others who are struggling with the mental side of sports (I am a tennis player). There is more to performing well than just being a good athlete with good technical skills. I was fortunate to have a very good mental coach and many of my instructors have also helped me to improve my mental focus. I have written some simple small books and posted these books online for others to use for free and hope that this will help them. The topics address how to deal with stress from parents, coaches, or peers. Do not take the bad way out of these challenges by using drugs, cheating, or other bad behaviors. There are positive ways that you can improve your mental game and this will also help you with many other things in life as you become an adult. There is a website at https://mentalgameoftennis.wordpress.com/ where you can see the topics I write about in the books. There is also a Twitter account at https://twitter.com/mental_tennis where you can keep up-to-date on the topics as they are put online or when people comment on them.

Actually for kids to understand this world and its challenges they need to do more than only read books. That comes through physical activity like tennis, personal (and interpersonal) exploration, and connection with the natural world. As a papergrader I'd state that some very scary symptoms among today's kids because they aren't getting this valuable opportunity because of reduced recess and overall lack of outdoor contact.
