We should do more for people in need!

I think we should help out people in need personally; by giving homeless people in your neighborhood a sandwich or some spare change or even just a water bottle to help them get through the day.

No matter how much or how little we have, in our simple ways we can help if we want to. Let's say in a catastrophe like hurricane or storms, if we are not severely affected, we can provide for others need, give extra clothes, share food especially clean water. That will be a big help for them.

I completely agree that as human beings we have an obligation to assist in maintaining the health of our world. However, by offering temporary aids, we as a society do not provide the misfortunate with sustainable relief. There needs to be a change in mindset from using a down stream approach (attempting to treat the symptoms of homelessness for example), to an up stream approach were we as a society look at why there is an abundant homeless population. An example of an upstream intervention would be to expand work opportunities in the area while developing low socioeconomic housing developments.
