[Poll] How I see myself

I think of myself as immensely lucky to live in Canada. Why? Because this is the one place where it is OK to be equally Canadian and equally some other nationality. This may sound weird, but I'm always proud to let others know that while I was born and raised in Canada, I value my parent's cultures and backgrounds so much that I want everyone to know that this is a part of me as well. I believe that this is one thing that really distiguishes Canada from other nations. Our diversity really sets us apart, and our acceptance of diversity REALLY sets us apart!
How proud are you?
I love my country! I'm never leaving!

Canada...

After visiting several places in different parts of the world, but still being completely ignorant to the majority of the planet (to be honest), I have come to the conclusion that we definately need to ignite a renewed appreciation for the things (like Education, Health Care, and Democracy) that we've come to take for granted in this amazing, free country!

But as always, there's a long way to come. Problems exist here like everywhere else...

Well, i used to hate it here, but now i've come to realise how lucky i am to live here. It's very safe, we can walk around in the streets at 4am in the morning and nothing will happen to us. Everybody is pretty much well off money-wise, there's no homeless people. But then again here comes in our political problem, for all of u that didnt know Cyprus is a divided island, half of it governed by the Greek Cypriot governement, the other half by the Turkish Cypriot. The Turkish Cypriot 'state' is only recognised by Turkey. It is itself a violation of human rights, Greek Cypriots were driven out of their homes, and now they're not allowed to go back to the Turkish Cypriot half to c their homes, that strangers live in. In the capital Nicosia, u can see the mountain Pentadaktilos that 'belongs' to the Turkish Cypriot half but u know that u cannot go there. The people that lived the war see the places they've been to but cannot go there now, while it's not fair, because it is their country and it was their homes.
The Turkish Cypriot half is in a bad state itself. There have been times when people were put into jail for saying things against the 'government'. Everyone hates the Turkish Cypriot leader, Denktash, but they cannot do anything about it. It is a military state, and the military is used to dispurse any riots.
I live in the Greek Cypriot half. I suppose I'm better off here, since people r wealthier here, and there's a lot of freedom. But there's also a lot of close-mindedness and i hate that. Everything is political. Each football team has a political party behind it. Being a fan of a certain football team immediately makes u a 'socialist' or a 'democrat' and so on in front of the eyes of the people. Pretty foolish i believe...
There's a lot more to say but if only i had the time...
So... this is my country.
