What Motivated You To Start A Business?

After university I went through the typical job interviews at investment banks and consulting companies.
I decided that I would much rather work for myself - why spend 14 hours a day making someone else rich?
What motivated you to start your own business?
Evan.

To take control of your life.
Why work 8 hours for someone, dress the way they want you to dress, get in at a time they ask, take breaks at certain times, leave a designated time, and REPEATE for the rest of my life?
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
I started my business to take control of my life.

Employeement is easy entrance, but as I work up the ladder you work harder for a linear growth in income. And I'll have to do pretty much the same routine until I'm 65.
In a business I work hard at the beginning and as the infrastructure is set I'll be spending less time and effort to receive exponentially grown income. It's a better long term strategy.
There's a distinction between self-employement an business, where self-employment depends on me as a core participant for survival, but business doesn't.
As oppose to empolyment and self-employment, business yeilds both time and money in the process to let me do things I trully want to do in life.
Just my humble opinions.

what motivates me???

though I haven't started my own business yet, what motivates me is the idea of having to be able to create opportunities and jobs for others. In my small mind I'm thinking of expanding and creating a large scale employment market that trains, supports and hires hundreds of people. Call it a cooperate if yuo want my, but I see it as creating job opportunites and developing minds. Also be able to be part of an organisation and being in a position to help people be more financially stable, is what appeals to me.

Lemonade Stories

I thought this was kind of cool.... A new film has just come out called "Lemonade Stories". It focuses on how mothers have contributed to the entrepreneurial spirit of their sons and daughters, as well as the influence these mothers have had on their children in terms of instilling a responsibility to give back to the community.
Check it out at http://www.lemonadestories.com/
