Veganism

Hi all!
I am a vegan, and I was just curious to see if there were any other vegans around this community. Also, if you are vegetarian, that is awesome too. This is not to exclude those who aren't though. there are other ways to do your part in this world.
So anyway, if you are, you could you please tell me why and how it has been going for you.

Hey, are you really 14? If you are, I am too!!! (hello, you're way to smart to be 14!)
You know, i'm not quite a vegetarian, but I don't eat red meat and i'm kind of convincing mum to let me come off chicken (don't like the taste of it)
I'm definitely very against people eating lamb; they're such intelligent animals and so cute if you've ever spent time with them. It's so cruel to take them away and kill them when they're so young! They deserve a life you know!

I am a die-hard vegetarian who has started to not sit on a table where non-veg is served!
I don't eat eggs , I drink milk less often! I don't eat fish , chiecken or any type of meat! Now i don't know if I can be counted a vegan!
For me this was a natural progress, I remember when I was only 5 the Doctors had told my mom to force me eat Meat cause i was'nt eating it and didn't eat even then after , but as i have grown older I am getting strong and strong a vegetarian!
Its because I am humanist , I am a vegetarian! On thing else , I guess it would be even much better to have only seeds , then vegetables when possible! It think its also not ok to eat to much Vegs because u don't eat meat! This would be kind of more focus on vegetables that also deserve sympathy just as Humans and animals do!
"they're such intelligent animals and so cute if you've ever spent time with them. It's so cruel to take them away and kill them when they're so young! They deserve a life you know"
u know here , they keep sheeps or other animals for 6-8 months and do take care of it only to make sure it gets well fat and gets more meat , then they slaughter it! Just don't undrestand how can they eat it!
I keep bothering my friends on meals when they have meat , I tell them " imagine what a cool chicken it was , wow it must have had parents , ho sorry for her and so on ........." , I HAVE MANAGED TO TURN FEW OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS VEGETARIAN OR CLOSE TO IT , and its a Great feeling!

It's nice to meet people here who have similar interests to mine, but I have to admit that I'm not as strict with eating animal products as the rest of you people.
I think that especially if you're a vegan, you have to be very careful that you're getting all the minerals you need. In particular iron and calcium.
I eat like chicken or seafood at least once a day, plus other food that contains iron such as eggs, tofu, lentils, etc. You'd think that I was getting the right amound of iron, right? WRONG. After going off red meat for a while, I noticed I started feeling more tired each day and people noticed my face was pale. I also had dark circles under my eyes. These are some of the symptoms of iron deficiency. I'm okay now, because I have a higher quantity of iron from a better diet and I have an iron supplement.

Environmental Reasons
The only food which can reforest the world (saying yes to tree products)
In reforesting the earth fruit and nut trees prevent erosion & mudslides and stabilizes temperature extremes And brings rain to desert, dust bowls and drought areas
And trees along with vines create oxygen
And purify and filter the air
And reduce the noise pollution of the planet.
The most efficiently wrapped (nutshells, banana peels, coconut husks)
The most decentralized (can be grown wherever are light, water, earth, and air)
Fruit trees, bushes and vines provide the most fabric for the planet (cotton etc.)
Fruit trees, bushes and vines provide housing materials (not in the form of wood from the killing of trees but fallen palm fronds etc. used in tropical housing.) 18b: Fruit eliminates the problem of flesh-containing trash which attracts neighborhood cats and dogs.
In reforesting, fruitarian diet adds greentree privacy screens
Those who let things be have no time, money, or landfill problem with the raking of fall leaves.
And re-provides a home for wildlife
And trees eat carbon dioxide which prevents global warming 22a: Fastest to prepare.. the Goddesigned fast food is fruit.

I eat lots of fruit. I eat vegetables too. I grow my own veg when I can. Apart from that, we (my family and I) are vegans. Strictly vegan for most of our lives, but have been known to eat an egg (about 6 eggs in the last four years, from a friends chicken, but still, yuck).
Sitting at a table where animals are being eaten is a hard one. I went for over a decade when I wouldn't, absolutely no way. Then I had some big life changes that knocked me off my balance for a while and I chose to accept or ignore other people's food choices. It can be difficult for much older generations to understand. Whilst it's my choice what I eat, it can come across as judgemental if I refuse to eat with the kind old people that are just doing what they've always done.
Last weekend I went away on an educational trip with 20 other people. I was the youngest and the only vegetarian. Saturday night they had a big meat fest. It was disgusting. Not chunks/slices of meat but burgers and sausages, lots. So much that they threw half away the next morning. Some people were angry that I wouldn't sit/eat with them. Some felt sad and sorry for me. Some were just confused. I just smiled and sat in the computer room until I'd finished my meal and they theirs. I say, let them be, it's their life to live how they choose, I'm not angry, and I smile and I love. At night, whilst sleeping, a different story was told, of repressed anger and much teeth grinding (so I was told the next day).
Sometimes I say live and let live, but more recently I am wondering if that attitude may be strengthening their ignorance, and frustrating myself.
I know that there are many more children that are vegetarians than there used to be, and that makes me happy.
Leonardo da Vinci: One day the world
will look upon the eating of animals as it now looks upon the eating of human beings.

I just looked at this site http://www.vrg.org/nutshell/vegan.htm to learn more about the vegan thing. I never understood the difference between veganism and vegetarianism...which I have tried with mixed results. Right now, I have reduced my meat intake and eat more cereals and veggies/fruits. I drink milk, juices and lots of water...hardly any soda, coffee or tea. The dairy thing I now understand and will investigate further for my life. Thanks for the inspiration!

One more thing. I have been eating pita bead with garlic hummus for lunch for the past year and I love it. It really is a great portable lunch that I don't have to spend time every day preparing. My coworkers marvel at how I eat this every day! They mostly eat out everyday at places like Chick-Fil-A and Boston Market. They are spending a lot more $$ than I am every day and not eating as well in my opinion.

I have been a vegetarian since the time I started growing in my mothers womb. My mother has been a vegetarian since she was young as has my father and they grow my sister and myself up the same.
My parents some times eat fish, but thats it.
I can't stand event he smell of meat or fish let alone let it touch my mouth.
I don't have any thing against people eating meat, as long as they except me for not eating it.
