To overcome depression you need a partner who can understand you and hold you hard when life is at it's weakest point.

Re: Depression

In Canada about 12.2% of adults experience depression once in their life and the prevalence rate of depression has been increasing rapidly (Public Health Agency of Canada, 2013). However, due to social stigma many people with depression often ignore the disease or try to hide it (Halfin, 2007). Also many people have difficulty recognizing symptoms of depressions due to lack of education. Early detection of depression and proper treatment are the keys to treat the disease and prevent relapse (Halfin, 2007). Therefore, increased public awareness and education at school and workplace would be beneficial.

I noticed that the statistics used are specific to adults. As they are important, it is also key to take notice of children suffering from this disorder. Depression often starts in teenage years and can be very traumatizing to the child experiencing it. As early detection of depression and proper treatment are the keys to treat the disease and prevent relapse (Halfin, 2007). With increased awareness towards this matter, the child or youth can seek counselling, treatment, and avoid relapse with the help of their family and community members.

Depression is a serious issue among all humans, and especially among teens. Most teens don't even show signs that they have depressions. Instead, they bottle it up inside and turn to drinking, smoking, and suicide. Teens need a safe and healthy way to talk about their problems without being judged or fussed at.

Most people do these things that you suggested, but still find themselves in depression. Is lifestyle changes the only way to escape depression? Personally, I think that lifestyle changes may help, but it won't help as much as we need it to. I think that human interaction and helping each other is the real answer to solving depression. This way, people will actually see how much others really care about them, and they will see that their life isn't depressing or lacking in any areas.

I think that this is very true. Most people don't realize that they are depressed. Then, people start to pick on them and not realize the damage that they are doing to them. Then all the picking and fussing at from the parents causes them to take action and get things done themselves. I think this is very accurate.

Most people don't know that there is a way to get out of depression without asking anyone. Should there be more advertisement about how to avoid it? I think that people could use this information to help themselves. I also think that private institutions would help people who are scared to tell others. Most people are really insecure about it.
