Should inmates be allowed to vote?
May 30, 2012

What do you think? should inmates (prisoners) be allowed to vote in their national elections?

It is generally foreseen in constitutions and it is an important issue among law makers. Law makers are familiar with laws but not necessarily experts in it. People are in prisons for many various reasons. Some are condemned for crime. Some may be condemned for massacre. Some due to debt or broke in business, robbery, etc. It seems to me that a person who commits massacre cannot be compared to a broke one.

In my own personal opinion, criminals (who harm people and the environment), those who commit massacres, those who do armed robbery, smuglers and corruptionists are included in the groups that violate the civil rights. They shall not be allowed to vote.

I kind of agree with Farhad. The inmates made some serious mistakes to be in jail; they should wait until they pay their time in jail to be able to vote again. Of course, that's just my opinion.

I agree with Farhad and Haley, people who are in prison have broken the law and therefore, in my opinion, given up certain rights. one of them being voting.

Prisoners are also the citizen of that country (mostly) so they should also vote for the future of their country and family.

If an inmate has done a serious crime such as; rape, murder, robbery, or anything that could harm another person should not be able to vote. These people have gone and done bad things, and for us to give them the right to vote seems like we are just handing them back there freedom. If a inmate is in jail for something small and is going to be out in a month to a year they should be allowed to vote. They should still be part of our society.

Hey you committed and crime and now you serve time. You broke the law and cannot vote therefore. A person who wen against the institutionalized laws cannot make a choice on who comes to power.
